Was at a Honda showroom today, tried out the 3rd row of the BRV and CRV. With the second row fully forward, this is what it looks like (BRV top, Xpander middle, CRV bottom):

Clearly, the CRV has an awful 3rd row. Even with the 2nd row fully forward, the 3rd row was still cramped. The CRV's seats are too thick and were obviously designed as a comfortable 5-seater rather than a 7-seater. Just for laughs, here's what the 3rd row looks like with the 2nd row moved back (I can't even straighten my feet):

For the Xpander and BRV, the 3rd row is pretty livable if you move the 2nd row forward. Downside is that the 2nd row is pretty compromised as well:

So basically you either get 3 not-so-good-but-livable rows or 2 good rows and one row for little kids. Either way, there's not much of a difference in the 3rd row space between the BRV and Xpander.

If I had to pick one, I'd say the BRV is actually a tiny bit more spacious. The BRV and Mobilio are pretty identical so the Mobilio is equally spacious as well. The Xpander has a lower floor though so there's less bending of the knees with its 3rd row.

If you travel with 3 kids plus a yaya, these affordable MPVs would be a more practical option in place of a subcompact car. However, if you just have a kid or two, it would be wiser to opt for a compact car instead.

That crv position reminds me of sitting in an avanza 3rd row. Kundi side view, naka taas na paa sa bench.

I think thats why the xpander is popular in indonesia. the 3rd row reclineable seats are higher and liveable in traffic especially for small (indonesians)people.
