We have the monty vgt for 3 months now and so far so good, it has 2300 km on the odo now and been able to test its capabilities when we went to the province, you can really feel the surge of acceleration once you put your foot down and it goes like a rocket 100-160 km/h is a piece of cake, 160-180 kmh acceleration takes a longer time compared to other vgt montero could it be that the engine is not fully broken-in yet because we still have to reach the 10,000 km mark, i read somewhere that its only after 10,000 km where you can have the full potential of the engine is that true?

Nice to know. Thanks. Anti-carnap din yan kapag nakadisconnect tapos may on-off switch. Pano pala operation ng ginawa mo?

Maybe OT, my apologies in advance.

Anyone here entertained the idea of putting another Fuel Filter for the Montero?

The idea is not exactly novel as some already done it on some other vehicle. I am only curious if it can be done with the Montero. Internet searches reveal that there are two ways it can be done:

    1) Tank --> Additional Fuel Filter --> Factory Fuel Filter --> Suction Pump --> Rail
    2) Tank --> Factory Fuel Filter --> Additional Fuel Filter --> Suction Pump --> Rail

    Which Kit? Primary or Secondary?

If i understand correctly, with the first method, it is recommended that the Additional Fuel Filter be a free-flow filter with lesser filtering ability than that of Factory Filter so as not to stress the Suction Pump. On the second method, the recommendation is finer filter after the Factory-installed filter ( I don't know what will be its effect to the SCV, if any).

Care to share your thoughts, gents?

check the pajero thread, they have installed sort of water/oil separator prior to the fuel filter...

Pero sir, hindi po ba ang Pajero ay hindi pa CRDI, di tulad ng mga Montero natin?

I have intentionally posted this query in this thread having in mind the characteristics of Montero fuel system, and its supposed "problems". Given these factors, I was hoping one could chime in, for us to explore the feasibility of installing one.

kung serious ka about protecting your high pressure pump and CRDI components sa contamination both in particles and water isa lang solution dyan, use a highly efficient yet superb micron rating filter set-up na custom. the stock filter is just not up to the job kung gusto mo ng better.

you have to use a fleet filter like baldwin/fleetguard... the best filter makers in the world.

you just need to be willing to modify some fuel lines and space sa engine bay, even a single fuel filter basta maganda ang specs is already enough.

    baka ganito nasa mind mo>?
i have installed one sa everest namin, more than 5 years na ganyan ang set up ko.

if your going to use 2 filters you might stress the high pressure pump, unless you will put an inline pump. by doing that it will get complicated,

although for the montero i don't think the stock filter is restrictive so a secondary filter could work since mababa micron rating ng stock ng montero compared sa fleet filters.

Matagal ng CRDI ang pajero kahit nung wala pa ang montero.
If i were you, i'll just try to gas up using the euro4 diesel at hindi bahain yung lugar ng gas station.

Thank you for the inputs.. Meantime, I will adhere to the time and tested method of regular filter change, and quality fuel only.
