So really, it bears no meaning aside from being a marketing gimmick to get your attention.

This is like the Peak Music Power Output (P.M.P.O) labels on overrated boomboxes. The large sticker in front might say it can do "5,000W P.M.P.O.", but in reality, it's just a system that can roughly make 50W RMS.... if at all.
