Yes, ung start up ang malakas, kasi pag non inverter, patay sindi ang compressor, so everytime mag on ito, start up phase ulit.

    Question....

Window A/C namin is from Panasonic (non-inverter) which on paper consumes 839W (EER Rating of 11.3 kJ/hW)

A Hitachi inverter consumes 849W (EER Rating of 12.7kj/hw)

Significant ba talaga savings if I change to an inverter?

yup. tama explanation ni papi smith. just recently lang din kami nag palit ng inverter AC. although yung monthly consumption namin eh halos same pa din, 412 kWh pero yung gamit namin ng non-inverter AC nuon eh 3-4 hrs/day lang compared sa 10-12 hrs/day ng inverter.

I think of a non-inverter A/C as para kang nagda-drive ng M/T pero parati ka lang naka-primera and an inverter A/C as CVT na continuously ina-adjust ang gear ratio according sa load.

yup. but on paper... the EER and Wattage difference is very low

Check the EER of other models such as Panasonic inverter.
There is a certain model ng Hitachi na marketed as inverter but actual operation is parang non-inverter.
I think HSV model yun which is the one you are referring to.
Compare it to Hitachi HVQ or HV model instead.

This is from tipidpc thread about that model:
    10. Hitachi RA-10HSV <click here for link> Hitachi intends to further solidify their hold on the compact segment by releasing the cheaper HSV variant. It is another single fan unit to cut costs, and even has 0.60HP and 0.75HP capacities for tiny rooms. But please AVOID AT ALL COSTS as not only it is susceptible to the front panel PCB failing prematurely, it operates like a conventional aircon resulting in high electric bills! Watch this video if you don't believe me! <click here for link>
    EER (KJ/HW) - 11.9
    Refrigerant – R410a
    Size (WxHxD) - 470 x 340 x 600

Yes, ROI for cost difference is about 18 months or so ... assuming you set temperature between 22C and 25C ... minimum use around 8-10 hours per day ... less than that, minimal savings but can still recoup within 3 years or so ...

Oh, for rarely used air conditioners, just buy the basic with manual switch ... an insect will eventually fry your electronics ...

Avoid running air conditioner 24 hours ... if you must, then room must have 2 units to alternate usage ...

Refrigerators actually shut down when set temperature is achieved ... most aircons have their fans still running even when compressor turns off ... they'll just last longer if not run 24 hours most of the time ... but, hey, if one has the budget then by all means it's ok ...

Interesting thing about the molds ... have air conditioners that run once a week or once a month ... have not experienced mold issues ...
