it's part of the inherent design of diesel, i think.
Based on interview, the driver backed up into the parking slot but drove over the tire stop, attempted to pull back but pressed the accelerator too hard. Driver error.

errr... mababaw ba kaya, o mataas, yung tire stop?

    i wonder,
kung mababaw ang tire stop, can driver argue "poor design of parking slot" ?
kung mataas ang tire stop, "ganyan kalakas ang engine ng monty?"

    pwede...

he stepped hard on the pedal to get enough torque to climb over the tire stop

after getting over the tire stop he didn't let go of the pedal

why did he go over the tire stop in the first place?

siguro naman maramdaman niya tumama ung gulong sa tire stop while reversing

why didn't he stop after feeling the bump?

    inakyatan pa

was he backing up too fast?

    ano klaseng driver yan?

    parang wala sa sarili

Lagyan na siguro ng bollards yung harap ng doors. Space it just wide enough for wheelchairs. Gotta idiot proof the place somehow..

Fatigue? Stress? Health issues? Lack of sleep? All these increase chances of committing driving errors. Take your pick.

Easier said than done, for a lot of people. Especially working people. 9-5 people. People on a deadline. People not as lucky as others to have full control of their time and work.

You will be surprised that there are a lot of PPV, pickup, and SUV owners who drive over the tire stops. Sa mga mall, andami ko nakikitang ganito.

I once saw this Honda Civic the rear wheels of which were over the tire stop, parked in a mall in Makati. The driver never bothered to correct it. Left it as it was and went malling his merry way. It happens more often than we think. Does not even need to be a diesel fed or high-ground-clearance vehicle.
