Is the virtual card or e-credit card really foolproof? Our CC comes with one free. but we still buy debit cards for online purchases.

Virtual CC has a lower credit limit than the main card so you can use it as your default online purchase card (paypal, amazon, lazada, etc.). So risk is relatively lower in case of hacking and you can control your spending limit.

I didnt realize that. I thought non-USD cards are always billed in the local currency. Do you have to request for a specific billing currency for each transaction?

From my experience, the dealer will only allow up to 100,000 to be charged to a buyer’s CC. There are exceptions for regular customers.

I used my Citibank card before and was able to get points for my purchase. Maybe other banks are not so generous.

I see, so at risk pa rin pala though lesser in value. In that case, we wll continue to buy prepaid CC, really safe for 300 kesos per 1.5 years, I do online loading only when I need to use na, and allowed naman till 100k, mas mataas pa sa CL ng current CC namin

Like I've mentioned, your cc will decline you with that amount. You'll have to call them up for verification hassles. Besides, car dealers will flat out refuse cc payment for cars. What if you don't pay and the car is already under your name? Things will get legally complicated.

Credit cards can be used to keep track of expenses ... you get a free list of your expenses monthly ... I use credit card even for less than 100 purchases at the grocery ... better if you have a cash back or rebate card ...

*jut ... having a fuel rebate credit card would be useful to you since you use a lot of fuel ...

Security Bank Cash Back Card is still more useful since they don't have conditions on the rebate ... other cards require you to make a similar amount of non-fuel or non-grocery purchase before you can get a rebate ... For example, to get a 3% or 5% rebate from 10,000 worth of fuel purchase ... you need to have an equivalent 10,000 of non-fuel spending like shopping or grocery ...
    Thanks for your inputs bro.

I only use my payroll account when withdrawing. For my expenses, I already track them anyway regardless if I pay via cash or card. For my fuel, I have my fleet card. I also rarely buy anything more than 3k.

Seems to me that you get rewards when you spend a lot, which I don't. Ok na tong libreng credit card. [emoji23]

Aside from the points earned from purchases, credit card provides safety snd security. You lost your wallet, just call the bank and cancel your card or have it blocked. When you travel, you do not have to carry different currencies or queue inline at the FX counter. Also avoid the embarrassment of standing behind the counter only to realize you do not have enough cash with you. The key is to pay it full and on time.

Yes definitely agree bro. When I'm abroad I use my credit card almost exclusively, minimal cash lang kasi laki ng patong ng money changer. Useful din for online purchases. But any card will do - doesn't have to be fancy naman.

I think having one card is a great convenience. But right now I don't see the need for many cards yet. Baka pag nagkapamilya na ko. [emoji23]

The benefit of credit cards for me is that I don’t have to bring a lot of cash when purchasing items like groceries, appliances, clothing, plane tickets, etc.

And the rewards points are a nice bonus as well.
