A C-level position is something that pays big in both compensation and perks. You get a hefty pay, a decent company car, lots of allowances, big bonuses, and plus a few more perks. Some are even offered country club or golf club memberships.

There's a reason C-level executives surround themselves with good and quick-thinking senior managers. You cannot do everything on your own. You leverage on the unique capabilities of your management team to do things for you and just be mindful to lead them to the goals of the organisation and be accountable for them.

Umayaw lang sa offer najudge na yung pagkatao based on one statement (which nobody knows for sure is the real reason) kung bakit siya tumanggi in the first place. Kesyo di daw kaya ang trabaho. All based on assumptions. IMHO, irrespective of how the person perceives his own capabilities, being offered a CIO position is confirmation enough. There was somebody out there - na hindi niya nanay[emoji16]- who was willing to risk the future (kahit sabihin pa for the next 6 months lang until regularization) at nagsabing he is qualified for the position.

Not everyone can say that they have turned down a c-level position. So what kung hindi kaya? Some people end their careers without even getting close as getting an offer. IMHO, he didn't accept the offer because he can and he doesn't owe anyone an explanation.

You have such a kind heart based on your posts. Hindi naman lahat pangarap more money or power.

Example is my boss who declined a VP promotion. When he told me I was so pissed at him and asked him why he declined it. I want him promoted because he does so much work and it will be good for me also since he says I'm his favorite staff My boss told me that the promotion is not worth the stress and time. He lives a good life with his salary naman daw. The VP position will mean longer working hours and stress. Tumaas nga lalo respect ko kanya kasi marunong siya makuntento, maraming mayaman diyan napaka greedy (like SM).

My boss is 43, no maintenance meds whatsoever and plays football after work.

There's the rub. Successful people in the corporate arena are more prone to have health issues.

the masters of the universe hire people to handle the stress

shareholders of multinationals are insulated from the stress of day-to-day operations

it's the CEO downward who absorb the stress

they're paid the big bucks so shareholders can wake up at 10 and have brunch and buy art and siesta at 2 and read books

    that's the way of things

When I was offered an expat assignment I did not jump on it. I even made a thread about it. I'm contented being middle class though minsan I wish I had more money pero di ako magpapa stress or lalayo ng Pilipinas for that.

May mga kilala ako sa office (including myself) na ayaw magpa promote from staff to officer. I only wanted the promotion when I reached the salary ceiling. Problema ko din ngayon paano ko sabihin sa VP namin na I don't wanna be AVP anymore. Not worth the stress.

Hehe. Tanggap ko na bro. Never been jetlagged this much before. Maybe may kinalaman din na ang time difference is 12 hours 😫 Don't know how you do it.

Pag work bro, no choice, try your best to pretend that you are awake. My boss always caught me half asleep which he called the zombie look.

Pag vacay naman, mas madali. Balik lang sa hotel or bahay at 3pm at matulog. Gising at 5pm or 6pm then gala ulit.
