A woman should be gainfully employed so that if something happens to the husband,- then she has the means to support the kids.

I have a family friend,- the husband died suddenly,- and the housewife struggled to make ends meet for their(her) kids.

Plus the decay of knowledge. Stay at home wife who strictly do nothing but household chores would lose what they learned from school if they don't use it, sayang.

Siguro if a wife is stay at home, busy herself with something else, like online business or buy and sell.

Honestly, I probably use only 10% of what I learned in school for my job. School for me is more on developing your social skills or personality. I have no application in the real world of management accounting, production management, strategic management etc etc. Sa corporate naman, it's the social skills that help a lot. Bookish people without social skills usually get left behind.

Also, some jobs are so clerical and routinary that a person can do it with eyes closed. Not much thinking or learning going on anymore. For example, in our department we have a team of people who do nothing but answer calls, we have a huge binder of common questions and answers. Paulit ulit lang yan. Ops kasi kami so interaction with clients should be minimal. It's only when there is a question not in the common q&a, that a call is passed on to us.

I do agree that a housewife should always keep herself busy.
