    Two trends I don't like.

    1. I think the trend of putting 4-cyl turbos in midsize sedans is getting out of hand.

    2. All the V6 sedans are upward of $30k. At $19k (when new), I'm kinda hesitant to let go of my old car.

In the past, the V6 midsize sedans were priced much lower than the V6 minivans because the latter were bigger cars. Now, both categories are priced similarly. It doesn't help my case with the wife who wants a minivan.

I really like the V6 Accord. Honda's Acura offerings seem lackluster lately in comparison.

This red Submariner from 1972 for example is valued at $15,000+ today, and had a retail price of around $380 when it came out in 1972.

Compared to a modern example today which retails for around $8,000+. What's so special about it? That red "submariner". That's how silly it is. But a lot of people buy into that, and they pay willingly and generously with their wallets.
Bro is this the same watch in your post? Im not a watch expert but i had to take a look at my watch when i saw your post. My dad gave this to me many years ago.

At first glance I think so bro. But am not an expert so I think it is worth it to get an appraisal by Rolex. Do you still have the box, papers and tags? If your dad only had it serviced at Rolex service center, it should be all original.

Whatever you do, don't have it serviced until you learn how special it is in original condition. At Rolex service they will most likely replace a lot of parts.

The thing to remember with vintage is, collectors like it in as original condition as possible, faded and scratched as it is. Replacing parts will devalue it.

Potentially an heirloom piece. Never ever sell it.

Google "Red Submariner 1680". I think you'll like what you'll find. Lucky you. ☺

Ok, now you got my attention.

So it is not "good" to have a vintage Rolex serviced?

I always thought servicing it added value to the watch.

Mr. EQ, good looking yoyo BTW ...

Some guys have all the luck talaga. Collectors go crazy for that model. ☺

I'd just have it authenticated, and looked at by Rolex service to see if it needs new parts. Parts for the movement will be hard to come by as it is very old. Best get them while available.

You can Google red sub 1680 restoration to see how collectors restore these without devaluing them. By now it will most certainly need a service.

Service from Rolex service does add value even to vintage pieces but you have to be very specific on what you want done. You can't do much with the hands or dial.

In most cases all they can do apart from movement work is light cleaning and light refinishing of the case and bracelet.

The dial itself is irreplaceable as they don't make red "submariner" fonts anymore. How the patina looks is also a big factor in valuation.

In Eq's case I think it would be best to have it restored to as original condition as possible, and if he doesn't like the dings, deep scratches and such, it will probably be better to keep it that way and just get a brand new sub.

Nope life is far from perfect. I deal with lots of politics and just had my ass handed to me yesterday by my boss. As in major ass whooping. I have to sleep with my phone beside me due to my work. Im on call 24x7.

And dig this....i have a daily quota. Im only as good as my last sale. There is no rest. Lots of pressure. I have had failed businesses so i was forced to start from scratch at 28 yrs old as a tempo in a company. Worked my way up from there. Still long way to go but am near my ceiling. Dont have the connections to go further up.

But im grateful for the many blessings and lucky breaks that have come my way. Some heartache but gotta tough it out and risk sonething to get something.

Bro, success is when luck meets hard work. I don't know your entire journey, but knowing where you are now, it cannot have been without great effort and brilliance on your part.

I have a close friend also part of your org but much lower down the food chain, he thinks very highly of you as well.

The kid was telling me earlier how she almost got sideswiped by a car at a diverging fork on the road because of the wishy-washy way her mom gave directions.

I had to tell the wife about giving firm directions on the road and sticking with it instead of telling the kid to do one thing (take the lane going home) and then changing her mind to do something else (take the lane to do further shopping down the road).

At least, the kid now knows what I have to go through when the wife is with me.
