find it so amusing that ng nakita kong kotse ng pari magagara, as an example

sto nino de meycauayan - pajero
pari celebrate mass sa sm marilao 9am sunday - camry
sa heritage homes loma de gato - lancer 2004
sa sto nino de congressional near vicas market - altis

    share nyo iyong alam.

sana something simple since they do not need very expensive cars.

hindi kaya mga donation ang mga yan?

IMO, parishes cannot afford those kind of vehicles brand new.

oh boy. just check out those schools being run by priests. you'll probably be surprised with their rides.

some naman use the vehicle given to them by their families.

makes me wonder whatever happened to their vow of poverty. Like...even the late Pope John Paul II declared in his will that he didn't leave any material posessions behind.

Vow of povert means the priests themselves do not own property. The cars themselves are either donated or the property of the Order they belong to. Parang company car. So if priest A needs the car for this day then priest B needs to wait. It's a communal object.

Image if your parents were dying and the priest who was supposed to give the sacrament for the gravely ill and the dying (formerly Last Rights) had to walk to your place from a distance of 50KM away. In that case wouldn't you want them to arrive as soon as possible? What if it is Sunday and the next Parish the priest has to celebrate mass for is another 50KM and he has 30 mins to travel wouldnt it better he has a car? This could extend to them having cell phones, TV, newspaper, radio, computers, electric fans, etc etc.

good if its the parish car, meaning it can be used for other purposes of the church. but, if you'll check, there are certain instances wherein the car is exclusively for the use of the priest.

sure. the car is a convenience...like a celfone. then again, it shouldn't have to be ostentatious as to grab people's attention.

when I was still in LSQC, they are using an old beat-up truck.

in DLSU, they are using a varied mix of vehicles (since they are owned by the school and not by the brothers themselves).

Probably the Order assigned the car to the priest because he's the only one who knew how to drive or he was the only priest. Probably the Order had enough cars to assign to each priest. There are a lot of wealthy Parishoners who often help out the Orders there priests belong too.

What if some millionaire gave a Toyota Land Cruiser to an Order and paid for the maintenance cost & fuel should the Order refuse and get a Kia Pride? What if the millionaire gave the Land Cruiser because the area the priest goes too doesnt have paved roads should they still get the simplest car possible? Almost all the not so simple cars seen being used by priests are either donated or the property of the family of the priest. I know of one priest in Iloilo who drives a brand new CR-V that belongs to his brother.

Ito should the Pope have ridden a regular FMC vehicle instead of the Popemobile? I know the Popemobile cost a lot to build as it is armord w/ all the regular security measures.

The Pope even has a Ferrari in his garage, a gift from Scuderia Ferrari. Should the Pope get rid of the gift?

yung pinaka head/leader ng isang religious sector -born again movement yata, which originated in Davao, but now International na, and may show sa TV, started out by using a 100cc motorcycle. He personally bought it from my bestfriend way back mid 80's. My friend sold it for 5,000, which the buyer paid in cash... in 5.00 bills that is! After counting the money, color green na yung finger tips namin. Anyway, a few years after (mga 90's) he is often seen playing golf and now riding in a Land Cruiser 80 series.

    mazdamazda,

Hindi naman beat-up old truck iyon. Hehehe. They bought that Nissan Power pick-up (yung maroon) as brand-new nung nasa LSQC pa ko. Parati ko ngang tinitignan iyan sa parking dati. Bagong-bago kasi.
