Na shock din ako sa tinaas ng lupa in the last 10 yrs. Nag update pa BIR ng zonal value. My Tita told me a few weeks ago that she is selling her house na. A few years ago yung area nila nasa 100k per sq m range, nasa 300k na ngayon. I said how can I even afford that [emoji24] Isang pasong lupa na lang hahaha

back in the 1970s, jogging along the brakewater of roxas blvd,
one can easily see the big drainage pipes emptying into manila bay.

nowadays,
i can't see them no more,
and whatever they had replaced them with, apparently ain't working as advertised.

if the reclamation projects do not encroach onto the brakewater and/or block the drainage pipes,
i do not think they will cause a flooding problem.

we have an old picture of an old flood,
the area in front of PGH taft avenue, was one big flat plain.
there was a dugout canoe along taft avenue, in front of PGH daw. the flood appeared to be knee-deep at most.
the old is new... the new is old...

my mom naman said that the shoreline in their childhood, was harrison street.

so yes, those parts of the NCR are reclaimed land.
what i do not know, is how were they reclaimed during those olden days of no-machinery days.
