Smog hangs over Metro Manila as seen from Antipolo City on Saturday. Experts from PAGASA said the presence of smog over the metro is caused by thermal inversion, or the presence of warmer air on top of colder air mass near the ground, preventing pollutants from dispersing.

PAGASA monitors 2 low pressure areas

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, September 10, it was monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs) inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The LPA inside PAR was located 730 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, on early Sunday morning, while the LPA outside PAR was located 2,025 km east of southeastern Luzon.

The two LPAs, both moving eastward, were not directly affecting the country, according to PAGASA Weather Specialist Daniel Villamil. There was also a slim chance for both LPAs to develop into tropical cyclones within the next 24 to 48 hours.

    Drought declared in Aussie Land

    http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/drought/

For Australia as a whole, August rainfall was 49.5% below the 1961–1990 average, the tenth-driest August on record (since 1900). It was below or very much below average for the southern two-thirds of Queensland, most of New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, and large parts of South Australia.

Since May 2023, areas of severe rainfall deficiency (totals in the lowest 5% of periods since 1900) have persisted in south-west. Western Australia, and expanded along eastern Australia, from far-eastern Victoria to much of coastal New South Wales and an area in south-eastern Queensland. Serious deficiencies (totals in the lowest 10% of periods since 1900) have expanded inland across north-eastern New South Wales into Queensland.

August soil moisture was below average (in the lowest 30% of all years since 1911) across a wide band from south-west Western Australia into southern South Australia, south-central and eastern Victoria, eastern Tasmania, and New South Wales and southern Queensland, except in the west.

Its not vog from Taal but thermal inversion causing the usual smog over Manila not dissipating quickly enough.

PAGASA says fog in Metro Manila normal; DOH advises masking in smoggy areas

Sa mga taga South na may Vog, amoy may nagsusunog ba? For the past few days yan kasi ang pakiramdam ko. Tinanong ko wife ko kung may naamoy din siya, wala naman daw. So I'm thinking either may problem ang pang-amoy ko or wala pa rin masyado sense if smell because of her recent COVID.
