The US Navy's Joint Typhoon Warning Center just posted 140 knots (259 kph) sustained wind speeds for Man-yi ("Pepito") and gusts up to 170 knots (315 kph); that puts Pepito at a Category 5 level.

Forecast seems to have been downgraded. Before going to bed Weather Underground had us for thunderstorms from around 1pm to 8pm, now it's just rainshowers.

Forecast for us is heavy to moderate as compared to yesterday when the forecast was heavy to intense.
The Sierra Madre was the storm-breaker.
There's a lot of quarrying going on and plans for building a dam or two. I hope the government realizes how important our mountains are.
