First real job ko, 1994, 4,200 basic salary plus 700 transpo allowance. Which was the norm at the time, kasi PS Bank was offering me 4k/month (Trust Banking Dept).

But prior to that, I was attending a 2-week training sa isang money market firm, prior to becoming a Sales Rep. "Sell!"

Tapos, during our last training day, sinabi nung Manager namin: "Go find high net worth individuals (rich!) who are willing to invest a minimumof 100k, which can be lost in a few seconds!" Kasi nga forex trading.

Before 5pm that day itself, I filed my resignation.

according to a cousin of mine who was Etta Rosales' chief of staff, only 5% of the companies out there comply with DOLE and SSS regulations.

so yang 280/day minimum wage na yan? wala yan! yung 6 months employed, dapat regular ka na? wala yan! yung mandatory SSS matching contributions for employers (kahit sa mga tsimay ninyo)? wala yan!

that's one reason why Pinoys have a sucky "pwede na yan" mentality kasi (see the other thread). it's because they don't feel compensated enough, so they don't do enough work.

eto pa.. a lot of unscrupulous employers deduct the tax wirthheld, tapos hindi nila fino-forward sa BIR.

i guess all of the people on this site are car lovers or car users and therefore have cars or are planning to buy cars. that puts you in probably the top 5% of the population of this country, in terms of economic standing.

First job ko as fresh grad (7 years ago), offer sa akin was 8k++.

Then after almost a year, I suddenly quit, I'm tired of that kind of work, at walang patutunguhan ang buhay ko. My stint of 11 months yielded more than 7M, pero wala akong naipon o naipundar ni singkong duling o kahit isang bulok na kotse. Nagbenta na lang po ako ng pager, cellfone at cable subscription after that, at naging masaya ang buhay ko sa konting kita. Right now, I'm working in a foreign based company as their Philippine representative.

He he he, I think mas nauna ako sa inyo. I started working back in 1987 (while I was still in college). My salary: P 1,200/month. In my first job after graduating was P 2,500.

*Trajano: good post. Halos pareho tayo. I quit my last job because hindi na ako masaya and I was already tired with that kind of work. I accepted a job that pays less but would give more fulfillment. Five years down the line, I don't regret my decision . I get to travel overseas and in the Philippines, meet new people, see a lot of exciting places and learn new things. Best of all, my clients pick up the tab everytime.

it all depends on your lifestyle. Are you married? Do you have your own house? How many kids do you have? Do you have a car? Do you commute?

Back then, private forex trading was regulated by the MIFE, Manila Futures Intl Exchange, pero sarado na rin yun, kasi andami naging issue sa forex nun. A lot of people lost vast amounts of money, and since the sales reps were ill trained, hindi naexplain sa mga clients mabuti. Thank God I was out of the industry then.

I would advise na if you want to enter into money market (or spot currency trading), make sure the firm is a member of MART (Money Market Association).
