The lady is pretty dumb for mentioning Sharia Law. If she was a feminist and mentioned honor-killings instead, then she might have grounds for her protest. Honor-killings do tend to be under-reported and swept under the rug all the time.
Honor-killings are also common among those who are from the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent.
That's why I kept my distance (at campus) from a few Pakistani-American women I met in class. Chances are they're being watched closely by a relative. At the first sign of acting too Westernized and they get in trouble.
