^as far as I know, eruptions are a natural occurence. Hot magma from the earth’s core expands & every so often, makes it’s way to the surface, known as an eruption. Flash floods & maybe global warming are a direct result of disrespect for mother nature, but not volcanic eruptions.

41 volcanic quakes recorded in Taal Volcano in 24 hours; Alert Level 2 still up

Inaccurate naman ang GMA News dito.

The Phivolcs bulletin referred to in the news story mentioned 42 volcanic tremors. There is no mention of volcanic quakes

Well, press release could have just quoted exactly what the Phivolcs bulletin said.

Besides, in its own bulletins, Phivolcs have reported on both volcanic earthquakes and volcanic tremors. So if it omitted earthquakes in this bulletin, then this only means it wants to tell the general public that it was just tremors, and not earthquakes.

Its to highlight that these are special types of volcanic earthquakes.

Pre, you are missing the point.

Sa Alert Level 2 may increasing unrest (ref: TAAL VOLCANO BULLETIN 9 March 221 8: AM), tapos nagiging increased unrest (ref: TAAL VOLCANO BULLETIN 1 March 221 8: A.M.) at low to moderate seismicity (ref: Volcano Alert Levels).

Maybe you should calm down. Because unless you actually live on the Volcano Island you sir are perfectly safe.

when it comes to reporting on science-heavy topics,
    the media are notoriously in-accurate.
once in a while, i actually laugh out loud inside, at their in-accuracies.

On that I agree with you Doc. But in this case, it would have been easier to just quote the actual Phivolcs bulletin.

Or perhaps very lazy already. A lot of them also have this wolf-pack mentality in journalism, i.e. kopya kopya nalang sa ka beat.
