is it just me or is there a distinct absence of foreign/nternational scientists/volcanologists/geologists covering this? This is something they'd normally drool over

Its common courtesy to let the local scientists take the spotlight. Cooperation is/has been occurring but its in the background.

Philvocs should really seek scientific advice from other countries like Japan and those who are more experienced regarding volcanic eruptions so that their announcements coupled with other "experts" advice could probably lessen the pressure on them as to whether they are correct in issuing a lockdown in certain areas around Taal volcano.

On their own, I am afraid the sentiments of the residents affected would be to much to drown out with their public and scientific announcements.

the longer taal volcano doesn't erupt it will make philvocs more and more unpopular

the psychology --- because of those scientists at philvocs people can't go back to their land... people can't start rebuilding their lives

people will resent the scientists

if taal doesn't erupt and after several months Philvocs declares it safe for residents to go back, imagine the anger...

I don't know why I am so affected with the Taal eruption. Maybe because my Taal Trek is still fresh for me and it was a good experience. I'm thinking what could have happened to the tour guides and the horses. There is a whole community there and they are kind people. Also, Tagaytay is so close to home and I used to go there frequently kaya it's familiar. Yung other disasters kasi never been to those places so it's not that relatable for me. Everytime I watch interviews of the towns people, I can't help but cry...

they all read the same books. had the same teachers.
but they do not have the same volcanoes.

even in medicine.
we all read the same books and had similar-minded, if not the same, teachers.
we even had the same species to dissect!
but our interpretations, still, many times, vary from each other.

Believe it or not, our volcanologists (and meteorologists) are on par with the best of the world. Being in the Pacific ring of fire helps.

Indonesia's volcanologists are probably some of the most experienced in the world, but we are not far behind. Lamang lang sila because they have experienced some of the strongest eruptions in recorded history. And they have more volcanoes, of course.

Ang advantage lang naman ng Japan sa atin is funding.



Our big disadvantage is that our country is acutely low in terms of aptitude in the sciences. Most high school and college graduates here are not even aware how a volcano works. Yung iba nga senador at mayor na, mangmang pa rin.

Based from the pictures of the dead volcano island, the drying of the River nearby, as well as the receding lake, Phivolcs should concentrate on the data that life there will not be as abundant as before.

It will take months or maybe half-a-year for the ecosystem to bounce back.

Tignan nila yun birds. Kung walang birds dun, Yun ang sign na wala sila mahihita dun kahit bumalik sila. All they will face are poisonous gasses, contaminated food and limited resources, na sa tingen ko mag-aaway away ang mga bayan na yun sa mas kokonti ani o huli sa dagat in the next months to come,

Even the influx of. Tourists will be reduced to maybe 20-30% as before the eruption happened, kasi ang pupunta mga tourists sa Volcano ngaun mga adventurists or suicidal or broken-hearted.

Walang bagong kasal, love birds, ofw families, congenial vloggers na pupunta dun coz they will fear for their safety. Not worth the risk.


If there is indeed magma below, the temperature of the lake pa lang will be hotter. If magma accumulates more below, then lake will turn acidic. Even if there’s no explosion.

Add ko na din, yun Tagaytay pilit na nag-oopen.

Why? Why would I go there? Will they serve me contaminated seafoods from the lake? Pwede. Meron pa governing body mag-check ng Quality ng food dun, malabo sa ngaun kasi busy na nga gobyerno sa mga pasaway.

Meron order ang national government, don’t open. So pano mga tourists na bigla sumakit ang tyan after staying sa hotel or eating buffet breakfast. Hinde sasagutin ng national government yan coz may order nga eh, Don’t Open.

So kung ayaw nyo magka-cancer sa future. Wag kayo pumilit pumunta sa Tagaytay.

yung mga datiing explosion ni taal eh hinid pa panahon ng social media. Eh ngayon nakarecord na so fresh na fresh kaya ilan years or decades kakatakutan ang tagaytay. Unless maging totally inactive na taal as in dead volcano.

So sino papalit sa tagaytay? Baguio is just malayo and too jampacked na parang boracay na nababoy. (by the way im not fond of going sa dalawa vacation destionation na yan kasi iim into silence and tranquility)

Google search scientific papers on Taal volcano and you will find Filipino and foreign authors. So cooperation has been ongoing for decades.
