On their own, I am afraid the sentiments of the residents affected would be to much to drown out with their public and scientific announcements.

Google search scientific papers on Taal volcano and you will find Filipino and foreign authors. So cooperation has been ongoing for decades.

What I trying to point out is that, if I were Philvocs I would cite certain recommendations and/or advisories from these other experts as well in their pronouncements so as to give better credence to what they are trying to say to the affected residents.

Sort of saying that it is not just them that is saying that people should leave these designated no-go zones because based on their collective analysis and experiences, an eruption is imminent.

Ngayon pa lang lay it on the line. Tell the affected people na sala sa init sala sa lamig naman sila. Kapag hindi sila nagbigay ng lockdown order at may namatay kapag sumabog, sisisihin sila. Kapag naman pinapatupad like now eh sisisihin pa din sila because people can't go on with their lives.

Kulang imho.

Mahirap naman yang gusto mo. Trabahong Digong yan/trabahong tamad/trabahong bastos. Yes this is exasperating work. But you still need to show human decency and respect. It worked for Mayon and look how they fared. The Tanauan mayor already drew flak when she made people sign a waiver they will not receive aid if they went back.

You want foreigners to tell us how we deal with the crisis? We have our own experts. We are in constant contact with foreign counterparts, and yes they say the same thing as us. But like I said its professional courtesy to let the local experts say it. How would you like it if your neighbor tells you how to deal with your family? We don't give tell the Japanese, the Icelanders, the Indonesians, etc. how to deal with their earthquakes and volcanoes, so why should they do that to us.

PHIVOLCS equipment and expertise is at par with other organizations. We're not as poor or as stupid as some people think.

That is not what I meant. My main point is that Philvocs could probably cite the findings and suggestions of foreigners who are also experts to show that their warnings for people not to return is really founded on good science.

Don't get me wrong, what I want is people to realize the gravity of situation so that they would stop criticizing Philvocs - hopefully. Also I did mot intent for foreigners to dictate to us what to do. What I waould have wanted is cite their own findings and analysis as well but it is still Philvocs that will decide with the cooperation of the admin.

Please naman pati ba naman dito nagbabangayan pa eh we all wnat the same thing. For this end calmly with Tall simmering down.

I get your point. But ang dating sa akin, and I'm probably wrong is may racist undertones. Like "little brown brother needs big white brother" to validate and give weight to his finding.

In another place and time, like a few years ago when a Fil-Am doctor got questioned by an American patient where she got her degree and demanded a white doctor.

Here's a published paper on Taal by my colleague:

A synthesis and review of historical eruptions at Taal Volcano, Southern Luzon, Philippines

i am reminded of a real story many years ago.
the rich filipino went to the usa, to consult the white specialist there for his allergy.
the white allergy specialist said, "why come all the way here? the best allergologist in the world is right there in your country."

    "imported is better."
after all these decades, it's still alive.

    OT.

Happy we got that out of the way. I am not insuanating that Philvocs is incompetent. It's just that to give an appearance of more credence they have to play the media or communication game.

I am pro-Philvocs here ha. Hope that is clear enough with all the ash fall and fart of OB.

Unfortunately you using the word "credence" just reinforces my impression. But thanks for standing up for the agency.
