Taal lake will play a big role in the big boom....
One of the main concerns with Taal is the abundant water in its two lakes and the extensive underground hydrothermal system the magma and lava could potentially interact with. “When water comes into contact with something hot, it flashes into steam. Water turning into steam is an incredibly energetic change” that causes it to expand by a factor of eight, Gregg says. If that change happens in an underground hydrothermal system, the steam can build up until it explodes. “That’s the scary part,” Johnston says. The initial stages of Taal’s current eruption were, in fact, such steam-driven, or phreatic, ones, and they sent ash high into the sky.
The current eruption also carries a tsunami risk because of the lake surrounding it. If part of the volcano’s flank collapses into the lake, it could trigger such a wave. (A similar event happened in late 2018 at Anak Krakatau in Indonesia, killing more than 400 people, though it was bigger than what Taal could likely generate.) Tsunamis can also be triggered by large, superheated currents of volcanic gas, ash and other debris—called pyroclastic flows—or by mudflows caused as volcanic ash mixes with abundant water. Both of these occurrences can be devastating in their own right, because they can hurtle down slopes much more quickly than the lava people tend to associate with volcanoes.

Sharing some random thoughts on this taal aftermath.
Kawawa talaga lahat ng tao whose lives were disrupted by taal.
I can see the people in masks trying to go on with their lives as if everything were back to normal.
But it's a new "normal"
Yung dust na yan, kapit sa buong katawan, sa buhok, and I'm sure kahit naka mask ka pa, may na-i-inhale pa rin.
It's not just outside, but that dust will also find its way sa loob ng bahay.
Sa dami ngayon ng volcanic ash and dust doon, people piled it sa tabi lang ng kalye, waiting for it to be collected.
Pero hangga't andun lang yun ash/dust, hihipan lang din ng hangin back into the environment.
LGU's should mobilize fast to clear it.
But knowing LGU's usad pagong yan, dahil na rin baka may ibang priorities (evac centers).
And this is just in laguna, paano pa yong nasa batangas?
It just breaks my heart, and we should not be fast to judge and say ambilis lang naman mag evacuate... just leave.
We should have more empathy, lalo na doon sa walang resources to move out permanently and start all over again so fast.
Yung wala ng family.
Yung walang pera or kulang ang pera.
Peoples' live (and dreams) have been disrupted and shattered and the way things stand, no one knows for sure for how long it will be before taal will be back to normal.
Pag uwi ko nga, kapal ng ash covering the car, and I was just there for a few hours.
And I really had to take a bath kaagad kasi feeling ko ang lagkit-lagkit ko.Last edited by leonleon; January 17th, 2020 at 11:33 AM.

True Sir Leon.. Nakakaiyak nga kung mag focus sa worries and all..
Spreading the good vibes:
Ang panayam kay YORME. Part 1.
Pa good vibes muna sa evacuation center.

While the water around the volcano pose a threat of a tsunami it also helps a lot in cooling the volcano to prevent the unthinkable
Let's just hope the volume of water in the lake is enough to overcome the heat underneath to calm down the volcano

Those guarding Agoncilio were given order to flee after Taal was reported to show signs of renewed activity... hope its a false alarm.
Residents in Agoncillo say the eruption either caused the lake water to recede or ash extended the shoreline in Lake Taal. The water used to reach up to the banana plant in this picture. | via

200,000 to 300,000 years of our species existence... exposed to volcanic dust and ash and radiation... natural selection would have gave us bodies that can handle a little dust and radiation

by the way, bananas are radioactive

Cosplay in evac centers.
People using humor as a coping mechanism.
Maganda nga yan, to be optimistic pa rin despite the hardships.
Maka adapt agad lahat ng affected and ma lessen yung trauma.
Hoping and praying also that things will not worsen.

Yes Sir Leon [emoji4] Apir tayo dyan!!
Like maayos sa evacuation and maayos yung pag handle ng LGUs and mga police atbp.

Kasi i have a purpose, I need to survive, get healthy and fit and also look good
Or if not Presidential adviiser
Pero like everyday life, madami din pwede maging Presidente o presidential adviser sa future na tulad ko with the same purpose
So pano maging survival of the fittest, aside from science, ideology, cars, gadgets , health and fitness and history , kailangan may alam din ako sa geology
