    hayyy...

sori guys but di ko gusto nangyari sa akin last week. Im applying for a job in makati nung nalaman kung saan ako school nagtapos nang college hindi na ako masyado ininterview, nagsend naman ako nang application at tinawagan ako for interview.

Im applying for management position but I have a masteral degree of a different school.

Kailangan ba talaga nasa top 5 school ka graduate to land a job...

Yes its management position and I have extensive experience for 10yrs na.

PUP.

I belong to the top of my class nung college but I cant land a job noon pagkasabay ko ang mga top school thats why I take up my masters sa isang top school.

Nung sinabi ko graduate ako nang college in this school hindi na ako tinanong pa masyado sa experience ko.

In the IT field, not really... as long as you have the right skillset & attitude.

I hired my supervisor w/o even giving a second thought that she finished in a college in the province. I am also in the process of hiring another staff w/o even asking where she graduated.

I"m sure hindi yang school mo ang dahilan.. baka may hinahanap silang qualities or baka naman may nakita na sila.. madaming pwedeng dahilan.. don't blame your school..

I know a lot of graduates from PUP that are in upper management pa nga.. lalo na sa IT.. meron nga akong alam... mga VP, CIO, directors of international companies from PUP..

BTW, I'm from PUP, batch 95.

I know meron din ako mga kilala and Isa na ako dun nasa top management position na ako but hindi naging madali para sa akin marating ang kinalagyan ko. I have a job im just trying my luck for a better compensation and company.

Example nagkaroon kami nang reunion last xmas, most of my classmates are still staff position dalawa lang ata kami medyo maganda na position, yung iba naghahanap pa ata nang trabaho.

Im not blaming the school but the stigma of other people mas mataas ang tingin nila syo paggraduate ka sa Ateneo or la salle.

I gain that position hindi dahil sa graduate ako nang PUP but nag aral pa ako ulit at umaattend ako nang mga seminars to enhance my knowledge kasi kulang na kulang ang alam ko na tinuro sa akin nang PUP.

Dont know about your college department in PUP but yung sa amin school bukol talaga.

I've had a lot of classmates that I didn't think were exactly the best there is, despite our school supposedly being the "best". (UP). A lot of it has to do with the applicants themselves.

But some people can't get over the name on the diploma. If the company that's hiring thinks that way, then it's their loss... they're missing out on lots of good people.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    More than 10yrs kana work?

I think so far so good para syo but noong nagsimula kaba madali ka ba nakahanap nang work? kasi isa sa nauna ang PUP mag introduce nang IT course noon.

nah.kahit grad kapa sa top 5 school sa pinas kung ang kasabay mo na nag aaply e mas maexperience say fresh grad ka ng top 5 school and kasabay mo for interview 50yrs na sa open position dika padin papasa sa akin.though may pogi points din pag grad ka ng top 5 schools but not all the time.depende padin sa taong nag aaply at sa taong nag iinterview.

A lot of prospective employers are missing out on good people, since they fail to look beyond the school. Our current boss talks about his own frustration at not having passed the UPCAT, so he ended up graduating from an obscure university in Bicol. Pero naman, he went on to become an accomplished and respected advertising professional, at ngayon, VP na namin siya.

On my first job, I was accepted not because I was from UP (in fact, dalawa pa nga kaming taga-UP na nag-apply back then); I was accepted because part of my education was in a Catholic school. It was probably no surprise since the position was for an organization of Catholic educators.

Nung nag-apply na ako sa network, hindi naman ako natanggap agad, palagay ko kasi yung ibang applicants had more extensive, or relevant, experience than I did. Ngayon, looking back after 8 years, I'm still puzzled as to how exactly I ended up in my present job.

Para mapabilis ang aking trabaho at pagpili ko sa more than 100 resumes na ma received ko...sa School ako tumitingin syempre with experience.

Sir dapat sinabi mo I'm driving a better car than your boss (the interviewer's) hehehehe.

sorry but i've never been in a corporate setting. i'm just curious, who usually conducts the interviews? the management ba or the hrd people?

in my field kasi diplomas aren't of significance. experience pa rin ang hinahanap. which can sometimes be the chicken or the egg di ba. how can you get experience if you can't get hired coz of the lack of it.

i guess sa corporate setting di maiiwasan ang slight discrimination. parang toyota and honda yan e. people always see the brand and not the performance.

I second this reply. It probably just so happened na biased sila.
