They drill holes in the wall for the mounting plate ng indoor unit then another hole through the wall about as wide as a coffee mug's mouth for the copper tube, wirings and drain pipe. After every step someone else is on standby with a rag and broom to clean up.

They unpack the indoor unit from the box then use the empty box to catch the bits of cement as they make multiple small holes to create the bigger hole. Of course there'll be some fine dust that will float around but I think you could set up some sort of curtain around the work area to further contain the debris. Or just cover everything with old blankets or plastic covers to lessen the surfaces that you'd have to wipe down.

i got a sharp toploading fully automatic a few months ago.
i was intensely reading the manual, when my son said, "dad, just put the clothes in. the machine will calculate the water and time intervals. your only calculation is the amount of detergent."
    "perfect for our kasambahay!"

Dami pang programs (delicate, stain, baby clothes, etc.) but the default one works just fine for all loads, hehe. Just press start.

Coming from a semi-manual washer/dryer, I'm still in the process of optimizing our set up. From adding mga kalso sa paa para maging perfectly level ang machine, drain hose extension, getting a longer inlet hose, replacing the old faucet with a multi-tap one, to buying a weatherproof cover. Oh, and I need to add grounding too if I were to be safety conscious.

many floor-mounted appliances come equipped with height-adjustable feet. they are hand-rotated parang turnilyo, to shorten and lengthen them. it makes for easier leveling.

ground? you can bury a 4 inch nail to the cement floor and attach it there. you can also use the pipe of the gripo.

coming from a two-tub set-up, one would wonder, "why did i not shift to single tube automatic, years earlier?

    happy washing.

Only one of the 4 feet is adjustable to remedy wobbling. Unfortunately our washer is in our garage which is slightly inclined hence the need for a "kalso" to both front feet in the form of a discarded piece of floor tile.

Thanks for that nail in the ground thing. I don't think tying the grounding wire to a PVC pipe would work. May gumagamit pa ba ng GI pipes ngayon?

In short, kanya kanya tayong takal kung gano kadami ilalagay regardless of the brand and make of washmac.
The water savings won't be enough ... but the detergent savings will be significant ... top loaders will use twice the amount of soap to clean properly compared to front loaders because they use more than double the water per wash cycle ... have both front and top loader washing machine bought on the same year with the same capacity 7 kgs ... best to use liquid detergent, powdered will eventually clog the machine ...

Reading the manual is still important ... there are some instructions there that can help with washing efficiency ...

Thanks to this discussion, I just did some math on powdered vs liquid detergent, I use liquid on pang alis clothes to avoid powder residue on dark pants and powdered on pambahay because I thought it was cheaper, turns out now that they have the same cost per load after some quick computations. On powdered clogging the machine, I haven't had this problem in my 20 years of being labandero. It's usually the electronics that fail first.

    yes, it is.
but our kasambahay has difficulty in complying with complicated instructions that change from load to load.
we like our machine's "load and press. and come back after an hour".

there are two kinds of operators.
one does the various settings, for least expense and for best results for certain loads.
the other, likes the walk-away system. press and walk away to do other activities, to come back after an hour.

we once tried to make step-by-step instructions for our kasambahay.
"she failed." or rather, we failed her.

My mistake ... powder detergent does not clog ... it eventually leaves residue inside the washing machine ... you should see how icky it is inside the drum when they dismantle it ... filled with sticky powder residue ...

But this is how it should be done ... laundry washers should be taught the proper way ... otherwise they'll just wash your clothes haphazardly and inefficiently ...

Like yun nabasa ko nun introduced nila dito yun diswashing liquid.

    I bought a 5000ml HE liquid laundry detergent(733pesos equivalent). I'm using 75ML per cap per 3-4kg load.

    basically 10 pesos per load

i was a very fast convert.

when i was younger, i would soap and rinse oily dishes and pans for two, three, four times, using the traditional soap/detergent back then.
when the new super-dishwashing liquid and paste came along, madalang na ngayon ang dalawang hugas at banlaw.

    as an aside,
we owe these new detergents to NASA.
when the space shuttle lands, it is so dirty. traditional cleaning agents wouldn't cut it.
they invented these super detergents, to remedy the space shuttle's cleaning woes.

    to some,
just like velcro, it is a product of nasa's reverse-engineering of alien technology...
    heh heh.

Our washer has this container/tray for the detergent. If it's powder, it has this spinning propeller-like thing inside that pre-mixes the powder with water before letting it through to the wash drum. Or is this not a standard feature for all washers already? Anyways, we use liquid detergent as well even with our old twin tub washing machine as it's easier to rinse.

True.. [emoji28][emoji23]
Ay kalagitnaan pala ng kwento ko about top load and front load na washing machine.. Nagalit bigla at ni-interrupt ako..

[emoji16][emoji851]
