Thanks for the suggestion Ray I'm undecided between LG, Panasonic and Samsung. It might be better if I go with a plastic body since the unit will be outdoors.

This has been taking multiple daily loads for more than a decade now. Ultra reliable, Heavy Duty, zero electronics. Only trouble? Some minor traces of corrosion on hinges that I had to de-rust hastily...Apologies, I know that's not the way to treat a loyal workhorse.[emoji17]
Highly recommended...It's the LandCruiser 80 of washing machines.[emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

We have tried Sharp and Samsung and they're ok, LG on the other hand, the electronics died on me a year later, it's an IC that costs half of the washmac's price.

For a family of three, buy at least 12 kgs or higher capacity, if you buy 7 kgs, you'll have to do your laundry daily, because in reality, they can only wash effectively at 80% capacity.

If you're worried about delicate clothes, you can put them in a pillowcase.

We had a similar Hotpoint top load which lasted over 20 years. It ultimately died when the bearing of the basin suddenly gave up and the top cover hinge rusted over. According to the people in our suking laundrymat, there are people who could still actually fix it. But we were moving house so we just left it and bought a new one. On the other hand our Samsung Fuzzy Logic machine completely died in less than 5 years, and Samsung service never showed up to even look at it.

We replaced it with a Speed Queen 3 years ago, and it works every day like a champ.

Well, I won't say it doesn't come w/ the power consumption penalty....but we're used to help-less living. Home upkeep, automotive care & laundry are among the chores I choose to do. I know the OCD in me would use more of the time I don't have & even more water handwashing. I've seen how new appliances pale against these vintage 1s (we also had a US side-by-side fridge that served us a loooooong while, I had to go & find an equivalent replacement when it finally gave up).
I'd rather cherish my old reliable nightly companion than go with younger ones I know won't be half as loyal, doc.[emoji4]
