i agree.
i think a larger diameter drain will not clog as often as a smaller-diameter drain.
if it clogs at all after many years.

Kasama sa aircon cleaning ang unclogging. Just do cleaning every 6 months for an aircon that's used daily, you'll be fine.

1"-1.5" drain pipe? Overkill naman yata yan sa laki.

my dad used to say,
"why rely on their availability? eh, kung hindi makapunta? i just make my drain pipes larger. that way, they won't clog. period. magkano lang ba naman ang additional expense at using a larger diameter pipe?"
my dad is famous in the clan, for over-engineering. his personal projects are much better than the commercially available product.
my colleague.
tumutulo split niya, dahil drain pipe is clogged. and the tubing was buried inside the wall.
i suggested, "if you decide to bakbak, put in a larger diameter tubing, so's it won't clog easily.
When your lines start leaking after some years, you will then think that PPR 1.5" was not an overkill of an idea ...
It gets clogged if you don't do maintenance.

having to deal with a clogged situation right now is one thing.
but if one is building it yet,
you can use 1/2 inch drain now, and have somebody clean it every six months,
or you can use 1 1/2 inch drain now, and not have to worry about it for many years.
...aircon drain, po.
na-hijack na kasi from washing machines.

Back to Washing machines...Their drain? 2" vertical (to take the appliance's drain hose) into a 4" minimum main is what I'd always do. Detergent scum + hard water + fabric fiber + dirt are a guaranteed clog formula.
Floor drains? Always 6x6 strainer, never smaller, where the hand can squeeze thru for manual cleaning should the 4" pipe Ptraps clog. Doing it from above the floor is always better than from under.[emoji4]

I just noticed that our samsung washing machine top loader is leaking at the bottom. I thought it was just the drain hose I replaced it but still leaking.... is there a gasket at the bottom that need replacement?

Remember these toploads have a drain hose thats flexible at the bottom of the drum. Its flexible so that when the drum is imbalanced it can move violently without the drain hose getting removed. You can tilt your wm and see refit the hose clamps inside.
