Ehhmmmm... I'm not sure what you're talking about but they are already professionals. That's why they get issued professional driver's licences. And they are getting paid for doing a job - driving PUVs.

give me a good driver/ pilot behind a run-down commercial transport anytime over the opposite. so many times you've heard of these heroes who save lives despite the amount of bureaucracy they have to work/ live with day in, day out. you can't get a good driver out of existing system implemented by lto/ ltfrb/ dtc. instead you only get idiots and most if not all will fail to get a license abroad to drive a private vehicle.
reform the testing and requirements for a commercial driver license and these laws should protect public safety above all. he must be 'fit' to drive as in absolutely no chronic medical condition or vice issues. driving on a narrow asphalt shared among the various means of trasportation along with the peds who are are as crazy as the road and the weather condition all year long demands a skill beyond that of an average driver.

commuters should be more proactive and take back that power and right use of the road. use speedclock app or iradar on their smartphones and report it to mmda. include a pic of the erring driver and the company he's working for. if the driver is aware that big brother's watching he might think twice before he puts that pedal to the metal. get those idiots out of the road and replace with defensive drivers behind our buses, jeepneys and taxis and save limbs, time and peace'omind.

and lastly, just a reminder for everyone to hug your love ones everyday before you leave the house. a tiny prayer or a nice word or two i guess is enough to make a difference.

lto evaluators won't evaluate if you're a good driver or not. bakit sila magtitiis sa ganong trabaho na mababa sweldo samantalang yung higher ups dami kickback. siyempre unfair yun. kahit pa lawyer ang ipaexam mo di papasa. no lagay no license.
Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

im from davao city and i am very definite that things like this will never happen in our city. in our downtown area, speed limit is 30kph.

I remember a few years back, a friend jokingly said that they should just remove the barriers on the side of the Skyway; "Tignan pa natin kung may hahataw pa".

Nagkamali lang daw sila sa garage strategy. They thought it was not going to rain so the driver opted for slicks instead of the rain tyres.

Tsk. Poor IQ ng driver + poor maintenance = disaster.

Sana mabuhay ang driver para lifetime suffering nya.

If a bus company persists in fielding buses in that kind of shape, on tires that bald... they should be suspended. Indefinitely.

I've ridden DMT in the past. Buses aren't in great condition, and they're one of several lines where the drivers are incredibly reckless.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Bus driver in Skyway plunge dies

    Posted at 12/23/2013 11:49 PM | Updated as of 12/23/2013 11:49 PM

MANILA - The driver of the ill-fated Don Mariano passenger bus that plunged from the Skyway on December 16 died Monday night, his relative said.

Carmelo Calatcat was confined at the Intensive Care Unit of the Parañaque Doctor's Hospital when he passed away at around 6:43 p.m., according to his cousin, Efren Risomadero.

The hospital has yet to issue an official statement on Calatcat's cause of death.

Calatcat's live-in partner, Ledelyn Mondelanget, was at the hospital when the bus driver died.

He left behind 3 children living on Dinagat Island.

Calatcat was able to move his hands in previous days but his health suddenly turned worse, according to Mondelanget.

He was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries, at damage to property on Tuesday following the death of 18 people in the accident.

His remains will be brought to Bicutan. - report from dzMM

Face it, the guy got away scott-free, and the victims are left to pick up after his mess.
