^the nephew thinks like the rest of us. Minicarph thinks out of the box. 😀

Btt: may nabili akong itak from isabela a few years back. Gawa din sa leaf spring at yung grip gawa sa exterior ng truck. Ok naman. Nilalagyan ko lang ng used motor oil para di kalawangin. I like the heft and balance. Di tumatalbog pag ginamit sa kahoy unlike yung nabili ko sa rizal na masakit sa wrist. Best i used was a 'binangon' from antique our family had from way back complete with a bamboo and carabao hide sheath. Still sharp until now may chips lang kasi nagagamit sa kahoy na may nakabaong pako. Nasira yung handle at d pa napapaayos kaya d na nagagamit.

Also, yung ballpen for self defense i still do that. Kung kailangan magcommute o maglakad sa unsafe na kalsada, i normally place one uncovered pen in each pocket para may mabunot just in case. Back in college i placed all my keys sa dulo ng lanyard and sensing danger i would hold it with the keys dangling. Yung metal sa susi, they sparkle pag madilim. Worked as a great deterrent. Yung mga tambay would even walk on the other side of the street.

if you have a crop and curly hair (like that of our aeta brothers in the north), it can firmly hold even a ballpen.

inside prison walls, anything pointed is a weapon. isaksak mo yan sa mata ng kalaban mo (don't do it at home) then you'll see that it works as effectively as an ice pick.

can you bring inside an airplane a wooden toothpick?

    BTT

knives are effective for close quarter fights like this smith&wesson flip knife--

Ceramic knives from China. Waiting for them to arrive. Not sure if they are any good. Bought them out of curiosity. Sale kasi. US$25 lang for that set and free shipping.

uncle kimbon, ganito lang ang pag-gamit ng toothpick as self defense. kapag may mag attempt magkidnap sakin, bago nya palang ako isakay sa car, ilalabas ko ang toothpick na nakatago sa curly hair ko and I poke his eye.

    1) the law against carrying of bladed or pointed weapons is NOT applicable if such articles are being used as necessary tools or implements to earn a livelihood or in pursuit of a lawful activity.

    2) i don't know about combs [emoji4]
but a sharpened toothbrush is equally lethal to a hardened criminal. pero sa nakita natin ngayon, to say these improvised weapons are primitive is an understatement talaga. sa loob na bilibid, may naka thermalscope na.

    Some, cause its crazy sharp.

But thats it, its not really suitable for use as a "normal" knife. Like ceramic knives it'll chip.

Was supposed to get one from Kyocera (a Japanese brand) but I was told it's going to break if you drop it. It's hard and sharp but brittle.

Was loitering around the parking lot of UPD Shopping center one time after a mass, a fellow offered me knives, apparently from Batangas. He asked for a coin and pierced it with his cleaver (Anyone who cooks would know how frustrating it is to use dull knives) amazed, I asked how much for both the cleaver and the chef's knife ( both more or less 12"). He said 800. I said I'm dirt poor (unfortunately, my daughter called me, while inside the car). LOL. We ended up at 400, no idea if it's fair but I'm very happy with it. Skyfire ang embossed logo. Doesn't rust and no damage yet. Cleaver is terribly heavy but very sharp so wife is a bit scared to use it. She prefers the chef's knife (also very sharp but lighter). She even uses it to open cans.

Heard about the smith in caloocan but I haven't encountered them yet. Tabako Albay is known for knives but I've yet to get one (siguro one road trip in the future when I visit my grandma).

Tsk tsk no one. Dapat mag-ensayo din kayo ng knife throwing

Coz most martial arts train thru hand to hand defense with the knife. Pano Kung martial artist nakatapat nyo, dapat meron ka window just to throw the knife like a star

Probably worst thing you could do

You are assuming a lot, 1). di niya maiiwasan., 2). You will hit something that will incapacitate him.

On your scenario, the chances of either not happening is higher, you basically gave away your advantage
