the DMV now recommends that the hand positions be place at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions so that when the airbag deploys during an accident, the arms will not be in the way of the bag. this is if your steering wheel is equipped with an airbag. for older models without airbags, the 10 and 2 o'clock positions are still accepted.

as for me, when i was driving along SLEX, i had a mcdo double cheeseburger in my left hand, with the back of the palm resting on the wheel. and my cellphone on my right hand texting. buti nalang A/T ang ride ko

However, during high speed on a relatively straight hi-way and for safety, both left & right hands at 11 & 1 o'clock respectively, in case of tire mishap.
