What's your take on this peeps?

    - DOLE has already issued a return to work order

    - the Union is demanding a P200 daily wage increase, P30,000 signing bonus, and rehiring of around 350 terminated employees

    - the company can only afford a P12 daily wage increase, P12,000 signing bonus

    - 7 are dead due to an incident yesterday when the police & military broke up the picket line (as the strike was already deemed illegal).

    - Hacienda Luisita is loosing P5M a day due to the strike. the whole Central Luzon sugar industry is at stake since only they are the only ones that have the capacity to refine sugar harvests.

Workers just dont understand how businesses work in this country... Both sides were at fault, strikers were carrying arms (they confiscated guns and swords) while military fired at civilians.

Nakakamatay ba teargas? Never heard of it.

dunno the details of this mess, so no comment ako dun....

ang tanong ko lang, what were kids doing in the area? alam naman nilang magkakagulo e bitbit pa rin ung mga anak. were they intentionally using kids as insurance para di sila idisperse violently? sana mali ang duda ko B|.

Kaya walang nagiinvest sa bansa na to when it comes to labor intensive jobs... Gusto ng pinoy (pati gov't) swesweldohan silang malaki, pero di tataas yung presyo ng producto ng ginagawa nila... In short, the country is asking investors to....

INVEST IN THE PHIL, BUT YOU MUST OPERATE AT A LOSS.

ang pagkakaalam ko the current daily wage of the workers there are way below the minimum prescribed by law.

...pero mga repapips, hamak na mas maliit ang minimum salary sa central luzon kasya sa metro manila. And I'm sure na lahat ng nag-strike sa Luisita ay minimum wage earners. Small salary less taxes, SSS, HMDF, PhilHealth, high prices of basic goods ayuz na ang buto-buto.:D How will feed yourself with a mere P180 daily? I guess they are asking for a reasonable salary but some opportunist used them. Kaya rin hindi umaasenso ang Pinas eh.

From what i heard, some peeps trucked-in some "hatak" strikers as well (as usual)...

Of course we don't know the real deal but i do think that their demands are too high and will hurt business all the more.

May mga namatay at nasugatan dito. Ang tanong... is the Rule of Engagement been upholded here? I presumed may provocation na naganap kaya nangyari ang madugong rally. Armed with weapons din siguro ang strikers that's why they were also fired upon by the authorities.

napanood ko yung video sa chan 7. unang namato ng molotof bombs at bato ang mga strikers. tapos nagwarning shots ang mga pulis. maya maya, biglang dumami ang putok at nagtakbuhan mga strikers. pero dun sa video, yung mga bala na nakunan, e pataas naman ang lipad. mukhang nagprovoke talaga ang mga so-called strikers. usually ang problem ng pulis is overkill e. i believe they do implement maximum tolerance. its just that their barbaric nature overcomes them once they are given the license to shoot.

"Yes they have weapons! You think it is like a script fighting for war without pissing somebody off?! Follow the rules and nobody gets hurt?! Innocent people probably die! Innocent people always die! But I did not exceed my orders!...."

"I WILL NOT GOING TO STAND-BY TO SEE ANOTHER MARINE DIE JUST TO LIVE BY THOSE F*#7!%G RULES!!!" with matching blunted eye to attorney Major....

I just quoted Samuel L. Jackson from one of my favorite movie The Rules of Engagement.

how much ba ang minimum wage sa tarlac??

btw, if sa province, kayang kaya po bumuhay ng family ang 180 a day... kasi po bigas lang halos ang binibili, tinatanim naman po lahat, specially un mga taga bundok talaga.

if ever man 200 wage increase, eh kung 100 lang ang kinikita nila ngayon.. .so magiging 300? anu yan metro manila?

yeahh some people d lang talaga maintindhan ang negosyo, akala nila sila lang ang naghihirap..

but then, kung kaya naman ng company taasan ang sweldo, bakit pa sila nagantay na lumala ang situation bago sabihin na wage increase of P12. sana d na nila inantay magkagulo

well, in the first place bakit ba exempted sa CARP yang hacienda luisita? according to the law, dapat matagal ng pinamigay sa farmers yan. ang maiiwan lang dapat is 5 hectares for each family member of the Cojuangco clan. the farmers are only asking what's due to them under the law, a law which was signed by Corazon Aquino herself.
