Does school really matter?

Yup, sa first job ko it was like that, they don't just look at the college, they also look at the HS for fresh grads. Some time in the mid 2000s they relaxed the policy, now they hire from all schools already.

I don't know if there are still companies that hire only from the Big 3? FMCGs kaya? I know they are very selective of their employees. Ayala Land din ata.

Ayala Corp siguro but not Ayala Land. I know a few folks in Ayala Land. Di naman prevalent yung grads ng top3 schools.

When I started working, Andersen Consulting always hires a bunch of grads from UP, ADMU, DLSU, and UST. Then there are the others - MAPUA, Ateneo colleges from the provinces (Naga, CDO, Davao, Zamboanga), San Carlos (Cebu), Silliman (Dumaguete), and MSU. When training starts, everyone starts at zero and you have to prove your worth. Wala na basis yung school. Even more so when already on the job. Your school won’t be much of an importance if your attitude towards work is bad.

Kung pinayagan ako mag room for rent mag uupdiLiman ako. Course = sports science. This was Late 90s

the onLy schooL na nagentrance ako eh doon din ako nag-araL. A former aLL women schooL na nag coed. Kaya sanay ako around recto

Pero kahit highscooL pa Lang nagrerecto taLaga ako, the days na nakakatakot magLakad sa ue recto to avenida.

Hindi maka move on si kags kasi hindi sya natanggap ng top schools. And malamang sya lang sa batch nila ang walang naipasang entrance exam kaya todo alaska sa kanya ng mga classmates. Kawawa.

Kags totoo ba yan? Kaya ako hindi ako nag UPCAT at ACET. Hindi naman ako papayagan ng parents ko to study there, bukod sa alam kong mahirap ipasa [emoji23]

Curious ako, may mahirap ba sa Pisay? Kasi it's a good school na hindi mahal tuition, pero mga kilala ko na Pisay upper middle class at the minimum.

oo cathey, majority HS cLassmate ko updiLiman. Ayaw parents ko mag rent baka puro kagaguhan gawin ko makabuntis.

Tapos eventuaLLy nakiLaLa ko mga friends niLa sa updiLiman . Inienganyo ako magtransfer mas bagay daw kagwapuhan ko doon. Tinamad ako magbyahe more than 5kiLometers.

WaLa taLaga ako natutunan ng coLLege. As in puro Landian sa cLassmate.

ayan tsikoteers, may clue na si kags where he went to college. I know nothing about recto unfortunately

kags I almost went out with a guy na sports science ang course, nung una turn off ako sa course kasi parang hindi seryoso, pero sabi ni UF that's a very good course, maganda ang future earning potential

UP and UST grads made up 90% of the staff in my first job. The other two universities don’t have the course.

School matters more for fresh grads.

Ito tingnan mo = nung gumigimik kami kasama ko updiLiman, ateniness, csb, mapua and me recto. Kahit ano gawin engLish barkada ko taga updiL eh sa akin bagsak ng chicks.
