No one wants to hire someone with an attitude. Ranting online is like announcing stay away from me.

In my years working for multinational companies, I find that when hiring people you don't need one from such big universities. You get the people that would fit the job profile. Attitude towards work and people means more than a brilliant mind. You need someone who has focus, the will to get things done, and knows when to speak up accordingly.

I get the guy's frustrations - like him I was a scholar who needed a well-paying job more than my well-to-do batchmates. However, just because you needed it more doesn't mean a good life gets handed to you on a silver platter.

For me, the main issue is that he has too much entitlement and too little grit.

Much of what I want to say has been discussed in detail in the comment thread of that post. Hopefully the OP takes the well-meaning comments positively and comes out of this ordeal a better, more employable person with a less entitled outlook in life.

When I had my first job, the firm I joined was filled with grads from UP, ADMU, DLSU, and UST. Before Accenture grew to its big size nowadays, it was a consulting firm with a presence of around 800 in Manila. I didn't know it was a hard firm to get into. I was hired from the province and I was there standing tall with fresh grads from such known schools. I earned my place there and with work, everything is back to zero so whatever school you came from does not matter anymore.

actually naisahan ka nya juts, Atenean yan eh, 50 is the magic number. when you read/heard that he was rejected 50 times, nabile na nya kayo ang nag-comment sa thread, so malamang maging viral na yan. who really what he's after, these scheming Ateneans, I dont trust them at all.

sabi nga ni Brian Tracy, ang una dapat mo i-master eh the fear of rejection, after that the fear of failure. his statistics says for ever 100 tries, 1 lead lang ok na.

If he has gone into 50 interviews and never a job offer, there must be seriously something wrong with him. Either he lacks the understanding or he got his head up in his a$$.

^ si ako attitude which I see / observe in so many people I know is a product of low self-esteem. that's how I quantify / measure a new acquaintance. so what is self-esteem?

this is coming from the big man himself, from his book - Donald Trump

Self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves, the way we look, the way we think. There are three ways to build self esteem:
    • sense of control and responsibility
    • sense of belonging and acceptance
    • sense of competence

so if you lack any of those he enumerated, low self-esteem ka, and the usual attitude - si ako, si ako, si ako

School has nothing with it. It's the character of the person. These people got it wrong on how to carry the ideals of the school they came from. Many of these "yabang" kids from Ateneo may have forgotten one of the key values taught by the Jesuits - to be men for others.

Not anymore. My wife leads a head-hunting agency, and one of her gripes is that graduates from the top schools mentioned, do not stay long in a specific position. Lipat ng lipat, tapos puro pa reklamo.

Ngayon, she's opening her doors to "other" schools. Most of the time, she gets quality candidates. And when endorsed to clients, come back with positive results.

Juts, these people, these Ateneans, they are very smart and calculating. the monent he wrote that letter / shoutout, alam nya ang backlash nyan but he is willing to undergo pa din why? pero it's really simple because it revolves on one new and intriguing idea, An atenean that got rejected 50 times.

kung ako senyo, don't trust any Atenean. they're very cunning. hindi yan mag-sacrifice ng kahit ng ano, whether it's reputation or a sudden impulse behaviour na walang mas malaking kapalit. the reason why they are so many DDS supporters is because of this people who twisted and played us and even our parents all throughout our young history .
