Real time ba posting ng transactions? How come minsan sa SOA magkaiba yung transaction date sa posting date?

Pwede pang reverse ang transaction as long as hindi pa nauupload (settle button) yung mga electronic draft captured.

The BPI card of my friend's Mom had fraudulent transactions worth P60k. She reported it already and BPI is asking her to pay the amount while the investigation takes place. I know this is the standard now but I asked my friend who works in BDO and he said that we could bargain to NOT pay the disputed transactions (mostly online gambling, grab, food panda and airline tickets)

My friend is abroad now so I will accompany her Mom to the branch for the dispute. I haven't worked in cards in DECADES so I really don't know how things work now. My friend from BDO said to reason out that that card holder is senior and the transactions don't make sense. Also, tell the branch that my friend's Mom doesn't have the funds (problem is she has a significant TIME DEPOSIT with BPI) They are with BPI for decades already so I said last resort will be to threaten to close their account.

Another problem is my friend's Mom suspects that it's her gay nephew that used her card. The gay nephew left home and can't be contacted anymore. I told my friend to manage her expectations on the dispute kasi kung SAME ADDRESS yung food panda and grab transaction, can't the bank reason negligence? Pero yung online gambling I feel may pag asa yun.

It's scary na talaga to have a high credit card limit, paano na those with 1M+ limits

Does anyone have any experience with fraud and dispute? Did you really have to pay the balance muna?

    with a story like that,
i do not think your friend can win his argument.

so where is the credit card now, and how was this relative able to get access to it ?

What do you mean doc? The gay nephew stole the card details, though they live in the same house she didn't authorize the transactions. Ang mahirap how to prove na hindi authorized Though they can always check the card history sa pattern of transactions.

it's like loaning a person some money.
on the way home, said person got held up, and the money was stolen.
does that absolve the person of the responsibility of paying back the loan?

I told my friend nga to manage their expectations on the dispute. I feel like there's a good chance on the online gambling transactions pero malabo sa grab and food panda. Airline tickets I don't know, if it hasn't been used then probably pwede ma approve.

"the gambling bug can bite anyone", even if only momentarily and even if they deny it to death.
if the airline tickets haven't been used, then one may get some refund from the ticket seller. i doubt if the CC will do refunds in transaction like this. but good luck.

put yourself in the CC provider's shoes. what would you do? would you shoulder the expense?

that's why they have people who investigate. Otherwise all fraudulent claims will be rejected na. I'm sure they also look at the history kaya nga unusual transactions are flagged. That's what BPI failed to do.

Wala ba OTP dun sa grab and food panda? I doubt may dalang POS yung riders nila. Kung pati OTP tama and sent to the correct mobile, alanganin ang dispute.

Can confirm no OTP for Grab and Foodpanda. I have a dedicated card that I use for ordering food. Only ever needed to enter card details once (no OTP either) and since then transactions go straight through without any additional action.

IMO same thing for online merchants. My card with Amazon I can just click "Buy it now" and boom, done.

Online gambling ... if traced to the same IP address as the home of the cardholder ... hard to dispute ... that's just negligence on the part of the card holder ... close all bank accounts otherwise they won't take you seriously ...

I called the hotline and they emailed me a dispute form, filled it up then I emailed it at bpidispute*bpi.com.ph together with the explanation. I didn't get any notice na na approve yung dispute, basta na lang nakita ko na reverse sa SOA.

walang OTP ang grab and food panda.

Thanks I told my friend na useless to go to the branch. She's abroad at hindi siya makapasok sa contact center ng BPI so I was the one who called. (We're friends since grade school)

that's why it's so scary now to give your card pala sa restos or gas stations etc because all they need is your card details to make online purchases. Name, card number and 3 digit code at the back of the card.

    oh you are right

BTW, I saw the statement and it was 3 pages long of transactions mostly P300 and below. Ang malaki lang yung airline ticket of P9000 and one grab transaction of P4000. Hindi pala online gambling, it's mobile legends. All those added up to P60k.

    Transactions are

    Mobile Legends
    Grab
    Food Panda
    Lala Move
