Agree with this, I rather have US so that we become like GUAM, rather than under China and become like North Korea..

May photos ang perpetrators, but would Mayor "idala yan sa Tondo" Lim have the balls to go after them for vandalism?

I'll bet the US Ambassador and consuls were watching this scene on their CCTVs and laughing their heads off at these guys.

Pulis patola ng Manila...Di na nga nahiya sa palpak nung Quirino grandstand.

    ZZZzzz...naka aircon pa yung patrolcar.

Some 50 members of League of Filipino Students (LFS), Anakbayan, Anakpawis and National Union of Students of the Philippines staged a rally at the embassy on Roxas Boulevard in Ermita before 6 a.m.

Seeing no sign of policemen in the area, the groups started hurling red and blue paint-filled balloons at the US Embassy emblem after which a number of LFS members used a crow bar to peel off several of the bronze-embossed letters from the signage.

    Guards helpless

Other protesters sprayed “US Troops Out Now” across the main gate and scrawled other anti-American presence sentiments across the walls while embassy security guards helplessly watched the acts of vandalism. The groups likewise burned an American flag.

By the time personnel of the MPD Ermita Police Station arrived, they were outnumbered by the protesters who continued to remove letters from the signage unhampered before voluntarily dispersing.

    Sleeping on job

It was learned that while the groups were defacing the signage, a patrol car (mobile 374) was parked across the US Embassy with its lone occupant deep in slumber.

The protesters had been long gone before the policeman woke up and drove away, apparently unaware of what had happened during his watch.

    Luneta commander relieved

Senior Superintendent Robert Po, the MPD deputy director for operations, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the district had relieved Chief Inspector Luis Guisic, the Luneta PCP commander. Guisic is set to be administratively charged with negligence for command responsibility over his men’s failure to respond immediately to the protest.

“I have also summoned the policeman who was caught sleeping on the job and asked him to explain,” Po said, adding that the policeman will also face an administrative charge.

    Footage

Po said the MPD was studying security-camera footage to identify those responsible. “Those identified will be charged with malicious mischief. Even their leaders, who are identified, will be included in the criminal charge,” he told the Inquirer.

Security was beefed up at the US Embassy to prevent the recurrence of the protest.

Ayaw pa rin patulan ng China yung "request" na dalhin sa isang international court yung usapan. Pati US announced na neutral sila, they need it's biggest banker more than they need this banana republic. So what does poor Juan left to do... Buti kung may magpapansin.

Global May 11 protest vs 'China encroachment' gathers steam as FVR, Lea, prominent Pinoys sign on

MANILA, Philippines – Organizers of a multi-country protest against Chinese encroachment on Philippine territory are vowing to gather tens of thousands on May 11 in Manila alone, as they announced a roster of prominent Filipino personalities that they said have already pledged to show up in the rallies.

Among the more well-known personalities who have signified support for the protest - the rallies are planned to be held in front of Chinese embassies worldwide - are former President Fidel Ramos, former civil service commissioner Karina David, civil society leader Leah Navarro, Paolo Delez, and broadway star Lea Salonga, the protest leaders said. Makati City rally will take place between 12 noon and 1 p.m on that date, in front of the Chinese Embassy.

So far, Filipino groups in the United States, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, Thailand, South Africa, Germany and the United Arab Emirates have committed support for the synchronized protest against Chinese incursions in Panatag, also called Scarborough Shoal, just off Zambales province.

Earlier, President Aquino and Department of Foreign Affairs officials had reached out to other members of ASEAN, warning them that if they don’t speak up against China on this issue, they could be the next victim of such incursions.

Fellow ASEAN member Vietnam, the only one so far strongly in support of Manila’s tack, has had run-ins with China in the past.

China holds $1.2 Trillion worth of U.S treasury securities. They got the U.S. by the balls. One wrong move by the U.S. against China they'll give it a tight squeeze. Thanks to those "PATRIOTIC" senators and damn militants, we're now on our own. And to think Scarborough Shoal is only 180 miles from Subic. I don't think they'd be bullying us if the U.S. Navy were still in Subic Base.

Sana kung sinabi ng US na papanig sila sa PH medyo magaalangan na yung China na i-bully tayo, kasi nga declare nila na neutral sila so baka mas maging confident China sa pangbubully nila saatin.

And tama nga yung napanood ko sa news, kung andito lang yung US naval bases definitely tutulungan tayo ng US kapag nagspur out yung war kasi pati sila affected, eh wala na. So we can't really expect something from them. Goodluck nalang siguro.

tingin ko naman hindi mananalo ang China sa US even if they have numbers in the military. Main Reason: sino ba nakagyera ng China these past few decades? kahit gano kadami jetfighter or tangke nila, kung hindi naman subok sa labanan. wala din

But the US syempre, kahit anong dekada since WWII may naka-gyera mga 'to. subok na subok na yan.

I have to agree. Until the first bullets are fired, the US will assume neutrality. But if they feel that China is the aggresor, they can easily muster enough support from UK and the EU and other allies (japan, Sokor) to launch an offensive against china. Alam nila na to their benefit if natalo nila China. Mawawala lahat ng utang nila eh. hehe

They are just playing this to their advantage. That is the luxury of being a true and only superpower.

If the bullets start flying, the US would be willing to sacrifice the banana republic. China is too important to the world economy compared to the world's second exporter of cheap labor. What is the Philippines to the US compared to China...

Example: a blind chinese dissident escapes from house arrest to the US embassy in the eve of a strategic meeting between China and US, including talks concerning Iran and North Korea. Does the US help this blind dissident escape and sacrifice its relationship with China?

The United States said a deal with China would set Chen free and allow him to relocate within the country along with his family and attend a university. But Chen has told CNN that the U.S. government let him down. The United States insists the activist left the diplomatic compound willingly and wanted to remain in China. However, Chen said he fears for his life, his wife's safety and wants to leave the country. More troubling, he claims that U.S. officials, instead of extending their protection, pressured him to leave the safety of the embassy.

^ Although you need to consider that the US is wary of who will control the Spratly islands because of its strategic location and the potential oil in the area. Would they rather deal with China or a Banana Republic/third world country regarding oil supply?
