I'm glad you're back
Tsikoteers in the US, when you say a house is 1500 sq ft, that means just the ground floor, doesn't it?
I've been watching house flipping shows and tiny house nation. I cannot believe when they say that a house that looks so big is 1500 sq ft that is 140 sq m which is about the size of a lot area of a townhouse here in PH.
In manila kasi when asked for the size of your house you say the lot area. In the US ba just the ground floor floor area??? I think when they say 1500 sq ft it's only the floor area because the lawn and backyard is always huge in these houses, it can't be just 1500 sq ft or 140 sq m

Most brokers would want to state the highest possible floor area so the 140sqm is likely to be the enclosed floor area of every floor. (probably excluding the garage).
In the Philippines we state the lot area because the value of the lot is often double or more than the value of the house because our labor is cheaper. People who buy houses in high end villages are only buying the lot.

Is it advisable to buy Euro now? My friend has some extra Euro left and I am thinking of buying. The last time I bought was in Q4 2013 and 1 EUR - PHP then was around 60. Now it's just 52

I think it's just the living area inside the house. The square footage does not count the fence line or garage. Basements and swimming pools are also not counted.

If we have a two-story house? Yes.
Our old house in NY was two-story with a floor area of almost 400 sq m, including two kitchens. That's why when we moved back here to Arizona, we didn't have enough floor space to put all our stuff in. We have to store them in the garage.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; April 24th, 2016 at 11:12 PM.

Thanks. I like to watch house flipping shows and I am amazed at how there is so much space even when they say the floor area is only 100 sq m. The porch is not included pala. Also, the lot area is always very generous. Most of the time the lawn and backyard sq m are much bigger than the floor area (which I think it ideal) I would love to live in a 100 sq m house in a 1000 sq m lot hehe

Not me. I'm the one who has to maintain the outside. The smaller the fence lines and yards are, the better. Our house is at the inside corner of a street. Our back yard is the smallest in the neighborhood. Lucky me.
Our old house in NY was in a 2 acre lot which is around ~8000 sq m. You know how hard it was to maintain? I had to rent a riding mower to mow the lawn. Even a 1000 sq m is hard to maintain if all you have are your hands. You won't have time for other leisure activities. It was one reason I wasn't able to post here for a while. Too busy.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; April 25th, 2016 at 05:14 AM.
Exactly! It’s an exciting time — more affordable and practical EVs are definitely on the way.
