    Well, there are 2 ways.

The Gunigundo Law (RA no. 9048) allows a person to change his 1st name by applying with the Local Civil Registrar and submitting the required documents, paying the fees and complying with the publication of notices. Note that any changes in the entry to the Certificate of Birth of the applicant is limited to the change in 1st name, or correction of clerical errors.

The other way is to go to the RTC and file a petition for change of name under Rule 103 of the Rules of Court. The rules here are more stringent and the petitioner should give sufficient proof and reasonable cause before the RTC can favorably grant the petition.

^^ Kala ko kasi Bro, it's just a simple case of changing a name, for the reason na medyo weird sounding yung pangalan.

This is just thinking aloud and somebody please share your expert opinion. Will this action forfeit the child's right to her father's heirloom?

Err, if you're referring to the child's right to inherit from the father (succession), the answer is NO.

A change in name of the child does not change the fact that he is the son of his father (whether legitimate or illegitimate).

Lawyer's fee varies from 5k to 15k. Plus, court appearance will be required. The length of the procedure will depend on the number of cases catered by the court.

Bebeng Gandanghari?

He he he... Chaos!!!
