Why do a lot of parents think that way kaya. My Aunt wanted me to go to the US for college (she will pay) but I dodged that. Now my family is forcing me to move to the US with the same reasoning (better opportunities) e I'm happy naman working for my boss.

I cant speak for others...but for myself:

    1. Opportunities here are 100x better
    2. Hard work is rewarded with very very decent pay unlike in manila
    3. Starting salaries here (silicon valley) for decent jobs are very good (8k ++ a month) for someone with little experience
    4. My children will have an opportunity to carve a trail for themselves. They wont need a lot of luck...just hard work. Unlike back home where luck plays a big role in a career employee's life.
    5. They are american citizens...might as well work in the #1 economy in the world.

With the way things are going here, can't blame you bro. After college they can always come back naman any time (if ever they want to). And command a huge premium in compensation when they do.

City life? San jose, cupertino or palo alto. Sanfo prices are too outrageous already.

Spot on bro. Very good planning also to give them American citizenships. That alone already puts them at a big advantage even compared to other US-educated Filipinos.

In hindsight, I kinda regret not dreaming big enough when I was younger. I was happy getting local scholarships but I should have gunned for a US or SG scholarship for college. Now I think it's too late and my path is set here in our forsaken country.

Don't look back bro.... Our country needs nation builders...

You're doing well and these places will just be your vacation spots in the future...

Even if I had the opportunity (work-transfer) in the past in Si Valley,- I never regretted staying here....

UCB is a good school bro. I am not yet closing the door for our second child to pursue education there or in NY/MA...

I will take a local (CEO) role vs a middle manager function in SV bro. Hehe...you live like a king here.
