Every culture has their own distinct ordor....there is a scientific explanation why we dont smell our own and in turn sila rin...bat di nila maamoy sarili nila....the human brain disregards the ordor or smells that is accustomed to...survival mechanism natin yun..its just a waste of time to process it...pero we are more sensitive sa odors that we are not used to...like if something is burning..we can pick the scent agad....another example is smoking...if one is a smoker...di sya masyadong affected sa smoke...you just disregard it...but for a non smoker, kahit malayo, you can smell it right away...ganun din amoy ng tao

    1. it gets bombarded by the same odor for a few minutes, after which we can't smell it anymore. receptor fatigue. a strong whiff of fresh air can clean the receptors.

    2. the receptor or something higher, learns to disregard it. once it does, the odor won't be detected anymore, until a new receptor without the memory of the odor, takes its place.

I eat guavas so I was amused with what he said. If I have offended you, I apologize.

If I may add, my wife is using guavas for cooking. I just tell her not to include the "bones" as I'm having a hard time grinding it.

sensitive din ilong ko sa body odors but i don't find bayabas smell like body odor. i grew up in the province and marami kaming puno ng bayabas. kinagisnan ko na yan, we eat it raw, pansigang, ginagataan pa, a good source of vit C too.

about body odor naman, likas na malinis sa katawan ang pinoy pero meron din may amoy talaga. i worked mostly overseas in mid-east and africa and i worked with the likes of french, brits, dutch, japon, indian, pakistan, bangladesh, nepal, sri lankans, korean, africans..may iba-bang amoy kapag pinawisan. may mabantot na pranses kasi hindi naliligo, indian alam niyo na, pakistano iba rin. koreano yung hininga iba amoy dahil siguro sa kimchi, during meetings few minutes lang nasa-saturate yung room. pinoy mabango sa umaga pagpasok ng work kasi bagong paligo, kapag uwian sa after ng work katalo na [emoji4] masangsang lang sa ilong pero ok lang, kasama sa trabaho makusqlamuha sa ibang lahi. wala naman namamatay kapag nakaamoy ng BO[emoji40]

I guess kaya inherent na malinis tayo is dahil humid at dusty ang country natin. So nakasanayan na maglinis palagi para mapreskuhan. Kung hindi, amoy araw palagi.

bayabas? i believe it is the epitome of "nature-fresh odor". some bath soaps even boast of their "bayabas" product.
baka naman, the naysayers refer to the odor of sinigang sa bayabas na ulam?

"forgive him. he knows not what he says. sometimes."
if i have to guess, it is probably because his only exposure to bayabas, is via the sinigang sa bayabas viand.
    heh heh.

we used to use boiled young leaves, as treatment for galis, and as "final bath" prior to going back in circulation after an illness.
if i did this today, what will my children think? ..."dad's gone nuts.."!

I learned how to cook perfect rice in our microwave this morning.

Afterwards, I replaced my watch battery, this makes me even with the watch toolkit I bought.
