The subjects cited as examples are Algebra, Trigo and Chemistry. If a high school graduate is interested to go to an engineering school, these subjects are offered during the first semester of the first year. Foundation. I get what you mean on this. But let's say, those taking up Midwifery or Nursing and a lot more other courses, do they really need to undergo 1-year foundation on Trigonometry?
There was a thread about that call center applicant wherein his "proficiency" in english had been laughed at. What if instead of trigo or algebra or chemistry, additional units are given to English subject during high school? More would benefit. And maybe with this, English subjects at college can already be dropped from the curriculum.
Just a personal view on the matter.
