Kapag may mga DIY-projects ako, when computing the correct gear ratio for a certain tire size, computing project costs, computing tire sizes, deriving torque, etc.

Minsan lang hindi na natin napapansin.

i agree. sometimes, you use it without knowing. ang tawag namin dyan nung engineering students pa kami, pampaluwag nang utak. eventually, i got the point. mas madali nga mag-isip at mag-formulate nang logic sa pang-araw araw na buhay...

Especially off-road. Velocity, approach angle, departure angle, break over angle, center of gravity, etc.

the other 50%, by being problem solvers, can solve that problem. sila na gagawa ng paraan if they want to learn physics, chemistry, trigo. hindi naman closed doors na sa lahat, gawin lang elective.

mas mahirap kasi yun ipilit sa mga kabataan yun ayaw nila and then make them endure a subject for a whole year. sometimes, makikita mo gifted naman ang bata sa arts, pero naiisip nya bobo sya kasi palpak sya sa math/science.

chemistry--is everywhere..daming applications nito hindi lang natin napapansin..also this subject is not hard as it seems..believe me-studied it for 4years...

If we are going to read CAREFULLY the article posted by the thread starter, Escudero is proposing removing the said subjects in ELEMENTARY and SECONDARY education (BUT NOT IN COLLEGE).

Come to think of it, ano ba papasukang trabaho ng mga high school graduates? Do they really need those subjects if they decided to stop studying and work instead? Sa mapapasukan nilang trabaho (if ever matanggap sila) for sure, di hahanapin proficiency or knowledge nila on the said matters. Now, pag college, ibang usapan na yan. Dapat ang estudyante well-rounded na.

I see the point of chiz escudero here. It's more towards practicality...

    I agree with you Trajano,
Waste of time and tax payers' money.
Malamang he hated those subjects, kaya he wanted them removed. O di kaya he wanted the people to be stupid and dumb para nobody would question his acts

I had a terror algeb teacher during my HS years that the whole class practicality would have learned nothing if we did not try to study individually. The others who did not self-study (well, there were actually just about 7 of them happy-go-lucky) algeb and just kept complaining about the attitude of the teacher all took 2-takes in their first unit of College Algebra.

I'm another man fed up with Escudero popping up when the news is about politics... and now I'm getting more fed up of him as he even tries to propose a non-productive asset for the young Filipino mind. If I were to compare him to my happy-go-lucky HS batchmates, he's exactly the same! Trying too much to make a name for themselves by blabbing that they start talking nonsense...

And yes, indeed there are those who just don't like these subjects but they have to face the fact that these contributes to much of what is happening in everyday living. They may not be practical for conversational purposes but they are what constitutes a man's opinion to why something happened (Why airbags did not deploy, why a building in Mexico did not budge during the earthquake, why the vehicle running at the back of another vehicle runs faster, how much would you gain from the interest rate of the bank annually, why oil prices keep increasing, etc.)...
