Veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, his home network GMA confirmed. He was 71.

Mel Tiango announced Enriquez's passing during the airing of the news broadcasting show 24 Oras.

"Ang kanyang dedikasyon sa industriya ay magsisilbing inspirasyon sa lahat," said Tiangco.

Ah wala silang anak ng wife niya? About a decade ago my officemate had a client together with a kid in office. When they left, he told me na that the girl used to work in GMA & nabuntis ni Mike Enriquez. The kid didn’t look like him.

Prior to his diagnosis, he was a heavy smoker and described his appetite as “sinful.” Since then, he has adopted a healthy lifestyle. At 71, he actively goes to the gym, monitors his diet, and takes his medications regularly. He believes that discipline is the key ingredient to fighting diabetes.
