Question on maintenance

I think the creaking noise I've notice was also mentioned in the 2014 Mazda 3 thread. I'm not sure if this is the correct question to ask but does the lower control arm leak? How do you fix this without replacing the parts the casa wants replaced? Also, does anyone know any aftermarket brand for the control arm (OEM like quality)?

There is no fluid there to leak. Its just a big hunk of steel with bushings. Unless the OEM bushings are fluid-filled? The only rubber bushing I know that has fluid is the engine support. Unless nabangga ka and that LCA was twisted or cracked you can just replace the rubber bushes.

Perhaps the casa said it was the shock absorbers that were leaking?

Went to a repair shop and saw first hand what's underneath, I don't know why the casa want me to replace a ton of parts I've mentioned previously because there is nothing wrong with it, or so it appears. Anyway, I complained of a creaking sound whenever I go over a hump or pothole but they said there is nothing wrong with the shocks, however they want me to replace the suspension assembly. They said it has a leak but I can't see any, does this easily break?

majority of fwd vehicles have McPherson front suspensions. the lower arm bushings fail talaga. I would suspect that immediately for the creaks..though other bushings need checking too.

Some normal scratches but never been involved in a collision, front shocks have no leak, this I made sure.

I know that store, bought a serpentine tensioner from them before, also had PMS last year. LCA cost is about half compared to casa's as usual.

I think the auto repair shop I went to yesterday is trying to make some money for the free check up.

Where can you get a LCA bushing?

Shocks can leak without any visible signs. Last Sunday I went to Motech to ask for a diagnosis on a rattling sound up front in my Mz2. Without raising the car they checked the shocks if there was still "play" or rather lack. They pushed down on each corner, the car should stop after 1-2 bounces. Still good. Next they raised it up and began shaking every suspension part by hand and a crowbar. Found the stab link loose.

just drive it, po, until the squeak turns into a real lagutok, which can be years from now..
i don't think anything will happen to your car just yet.

Agree, too. And should parts & dampers go....Upgrade em to better than OE. The best part? Superpro bushes + Koni Special Actives might cost you less than stock![emoji4]

More of the latter really, the newly assigned SA I think is trying to get some pogi points if he managed to get the customer agree to his every recommendation. Big mistake on my part was leaving my M3 on her own, did not get the chance to talk to the attending mechanic.

I missed my previous suking SA who has resigned, always kind let me know first hand what needs immediate replacing.

Called Mazda GH yesterday for change oil package. The lady told me it will be around 12k to 15k php and hindi daw pwede yung basic change oil lang or ala carte.
I might try to change oil outside casa nalang siguro. Planning to buy Amsoil OE 100% synthetic sa lazada which is around 425 php per liter. API SN, ACEA A5/B5 na din sya. Ok ba Amsoil compared sa Royal Purple HPS?
And also ok ba ang VIC C-901 oil filter or mas ok pa din na Mazda OEM filter gamitin? Thanks.

kung 425 ok na yan acea a5b5. i would prefer dexos1gen2 na 5w30. better wear protection and better fuel economy. tried both already

Report that & look for another dealership. They should have 2 types of Shell Helix Ultra Professional. 5w/30(A5/B5) & Ow-30(C3). Stick w/ the OE filter. It's not pricey, sir.

sounds good. 4k gastos ko sa speedyfix lol. just make sure of how many liters nakalagay sa manual. speedyfix might insist of 200ml additional oil when they check oil levels. i made sure i checked the manual for the civic. nakalagay 4Qt(3.7)and not 4L. they sell RP that is in Quart/bottle.

not sure if they're dumb or they want to sell me an extra bottle. either way. i had the manual to slap to their face.

They are also selling oil filter for 500 php.

i asked the mechanic to check for leaks. you can ask them to press the brake pedal to check the brake light.

fluid levels naman kahit ikaw na.

there are other things to be checked but not sure which ones you require

Great question. I think this will vary on the engine you have. Modern engines run as hot as they do with cleaner fuels and innovative lubricants that won't be needing decarbonizing. However, it won't harm if you ask its advantage and try it at least once and check if it's worthy. Hope this helps!

there is an alarm/alert on my dashboard for i-Stop (blinking yellow). for several days there was an alert but then it disappears after a few days. there was none this morning as i-Stop functioned well.

my amaron battery is still within warranty.

Sign that it will die soon, have it check at the casa perhaps? I'll never forget when Mazda PH was still using Motolite as replacement for Panasonic, the former died while I'm parked in basement 5, imagine that!
