Check out the UK brochiere, 51-52%/48-49% ata for the 1.6, hatch and sedan. Ang difference ng hatch sa sedan is 20lbs sa rear axle.
wow! impressive... if that's so, it would be better to have a 1.6L plus turbo than a 2.0 or 2.3L engine.

Actually, reading the brochure, that's permitted axle load, not true weight distribution.

RE: Weight distribution: I meant, typically, not specifically. Usually, the bigger the engine, the further forward the weight is. Typically, for 2.0 cars, this is around 60-62 % in front.

It is possible to get a 55-45 weight distribution on an FF car, but most manufacturers stick closer to 60-40 (or higher) for safety reasons, so that cars will understeer in an emergency rather than oversteer, plus, a higher percentage of weight over the front axles results in better traction for FFs.

the Caddy Eldo Touring Coupe has V8 engine sitting upfront and gets 61% of its weight distributed fore of the car.

its really hard to believe a front drive car nearing a 50/50 weight distribution...

It's simple. We used to do it on the Sentra. Five people in the back and a couple of sacks of rice...

Avid autocrossers and track-day afficionados can get 55-45 by juggling weight around. Fiberglass or carbon-fiber hood, battery relocation, and removal of non-essentials like the airconditioning system. Aftermarket exhausts also change the weight balance of a car, as the catalytic converters and the heavy exhaust manifold usually reside in front.

The Eldorado managed to keep its 60-40 distribution only because there was so much car aft of the engine. Small cars with big engines aren't usually so lucky. The Dodge Neon SRT-4 was 65:35.

yes, simple. but not with a stock car ;)

yes, you can use those techniques on an FF car...carbon fiber hoods, f. fenders, f. bumpers, rear mounted battery.

Most probably. Mazda has not changed it's production line. All parts still come from their Hiroshima plant.

I have a feeling the new Mazdaspeed3 parts are interchangeable as well.

I think we'll also get the facelifted 2007 Mazda 3, were usually delayed, hopefully they also add the upgraded 150PS 2.0 liter engine, the RP spec Mazda 3 2.0R still uses the 141PS 2.0 liter engine.

Here's a lighter colored '07 Mazda 3 so you can see the details better...

2007 Mazdaspeed 3 Pricing, Final Power Figures Announced - Car News
    Mazda’s 263-hp rocket won’t drain your pockets.
    BY STEVE SILER, August 2006

Pricing has been announced for Mazda’s long-awaited Mazdaspeed 3, which goes on sale in mid-to-late September, 2006. The price of the Mazdaspeed 3 Sport starts at a shockingly low $22,240, plus a $595 destination charge. The Mazdaspeed 3 Grand Touring, which brings leather seat bolsters, xenon lights, rain-sensing wipers and a Bose audio system, will set you back only $1715 more at $23,955.

We’ll have a full write-up soon, but since its debut last April at the New York Auto Show, the Mazdaspeed 3’s performance numbers have become clearer. According to Mazda, the final horsepower and torque figures have come to rest at an impressive 263 hp * 5000 rpm and 280 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. The 6-speed manual transmission was designed with wide gear ratios in order to “to fully exploit the wide torque band of the direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder engine,” according to Mazda (but probably also in the interests of fuel economy).

Mazda claims the front-wheel-drive “Speed 3” is capable of a “sub-six” sprint to 60 mph with an electronically governed top speed of 155 mph. It will be available only in the 3’s sporty and practical 5-door body style. Grocery-getting potential aside, the Mazdaspeed 3 is turning out to be one of the biggest performance value stories of 2007.

i hope it gets here along with the low sticker price. maybe, only if HCPI would bring the Si Coupe/Sedan....just maybe.

Do you guys find the door flapping annoying when you close the door? hehe wala lang, pansin ko lang whenever you close the Mz3 doors, it flexes like a passive sub.
