Yung 15.38 km/L na best record ko pala is based from the Trip Computer.
Not bad compared to Civic's FC which is 17 km/L (highway driving) kung totoo nga ang hinala ko!

*sir parakitoJDM

Joke!

2. Actor21 FC 9.9 = 1500/9.9x31 = 4,696 pesos

The important thing to keep in mind here is that I have a hard-limit of 5,000 pesos for my transportation expenses. I cant fund a single peso above that (And personally, spending 5k per month on gasoline is already obscene imho)

So if the gas prices rise to, lets say about 40pesos Ill be forced to not take the car anymore after 1,100 kms

Anyway, this just means that I need to squeeze as much FC from the car as possible para nmn maenjoy ko sya madrive.

Anyway:

Nagsurvey ako nga mga FC ng current cars in the market. It seems na about 12kms/ltr ung average ng VIOS/CITY. Oo meron na 15 pero meron din 10.. etc.. basta average from my computation is around 12kms/liter.

Tas comparable nmn tau with the civics and the altis'es.. Them cars also go fromn 8-10 city driving.

Katiting-katiting.

Yung nga lang --

the present alto with m/t was tested by the d.o.e. and ranked 1st out of 52 different brands of cars and officially ran at 34 kms per liter.
Ohmygosh! Totoo ba yan? Mag-alto kaya ako for everyday drive, then just use the MZ3 for the provincial trips that I take para di ako mabully ng mga buses. :hmmmm:

heheh i guess its just a matter of trade-of between fuel efficiency and displacement.

I'd like to add my .02 cents here.

It's nigh impossible to compare fuel consumption for different drivers on different routes... and even the same driver on the same route will get different fuel economy figures throughout the year... so fuel economy figures you see posted by others (including me) are suggestive, NOT final.

A highway FC of about 17 km/l is just right for an efficient 1.8 liter engine... my 2.0 can do 14-16 km/l on the highway. But that's NLEX-style highway driving... typicallly, it'll be about 14 on the SLEX and in rush-hour NLEX... our city economy with the Civic 1.8 5AT was in the 8's... very similar, in fact, to the economy of the Mazda3 and the Corolla (1.6 AT is in the 9's...).

The Vios is pretty efficient, but we've seen lows of 9-10 km/l in heavy traffic. It's not immune to traffic... the same can be said of the Honda City, actually. While light to moderate traffic can yield 10-13 km/l, some owners of these cars are seeing 8, also, depending on their commute. Both cars can do 20 or more on the highway.

Diesel is definitely the way to go, in terms of fuel cost... the Tucson, though, when we had it, averaged 8.7 km/l in all-city driving. That's because it's relatively large and has an old 4-speed automatic. In terms of peso per kilometer, it's pretty good (better than the MT Carens we tested), but it's not the be-all and end-all of mid-sized fuel economy. That'd still be the Ford Focus TDCI.... well... at least till we get a test unit of the Hyundai i30 CRDI, which is said to have beaten the Prius in competition... I can't wait...

Mini-cars are an oddity. Many have really old and anemic engines. The 1.0s of the Chinese cars we've tested so far have given really crappy traffic economy (9-10 km/l... and that's in manual mode, even!). The Koreans are a little better... (9-11 (Hyundai i10 1.1 AT), 10-14 (Getz 1.1 MT))... but the best I've ever seen is the Suzuki Alto 800cc, which got an amazing 16 km/l in city driving... and we beat the hell out of that little car!

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Agree with niky. In my opinion people value FC so much that sometimes they compromise style. If gusto nyo ng matipid then why buy the Mazda3 in the 1st place, it's been around since 2004 so I guess by the time you had yours, pretty sure madami na nag-review.

Iba iba yan, when I use the Fortuner halos buong Metro Manila inikot ko + traffic but I only spent about 1/4 of gas which is around 1.2K lang. But when I drive, mas madami pa ko na-consume. Pag driver, di ko alam kung ano diffrence but I noticed mas matipid pag ung driver nagd-drive.

It depends talaga, not just the car alone is responsible for your consumption. Pwedeng matipid nga yung auto, pero ano compromise on some features.. Wag na lang I'd rather spend more on a 2.0 Mazda3 and 2.7 Fortuner kesa sa lower variant or less stylish car.

Sorry O.T.

Sir Niky, just curious, are you connected to any local car magazine like Top Gear Phils. or C! Magazine? I'm a avid reader of both magazines kasi.

well for me as long as it my fc wont go down to 8kms per liter e happy na ako so far. 9kms++ per liter ako....so happy padin ako...

but some say that diesel engine cars are expensive to maintain? is this true?

I think you already know the answer to this even before you posted. Most of the people who bought MZ3 put a higher priority on something else.

However having said that:

What if there was a way para pataasin ung FC ng car? Why would I not want to search for that?

For example, what if I adjusted the combination of gasoline brand, driving habits, driving speed, etc.. and it resulted in an increase of +1kms/liter? Would I want that?

Of course I would. Ako, gusto ko talaga..

So now, what Im doing is experimenting on the things which I think affects the car's consumption and trying to figure out the most efficient way possible.

And tawag natin dito - maximization of assets and minimization of liabilities

Just my two cents.

For me Mazda 3 is the no. 1 pound for pound(Pacquiao mania na to a!) compact car in the looks department, but one of it's weakest point is in fuel consumption.

So the tendency for loyal and budget conscious owners of this car is they try by all means to save on fuel costs.

My latest Mazda 3 Highway FC:

16.67 km/L based from Trip Computer

Speed : 80 - 90 km/hr
Passenger : 2 adults, 1 kid
A/C : Auto climate ON 25 C temp.
Odometer : 3880 km
Location : NLEX

I think FC can reach 17++ km/L if you will observe steady speed of 80 km/h. I'll try next time.

Wow. Nice FC sir.

Here's mine. No trip computer.(Mano-Mano)

137.5 Km
16.53 L
-------------
8.32 km/l

Pure city driving with some steep slope(approx 30-40 degrees).

Speed: Won't exceed 50kph.
Passenger : 2 young adults.
A/C : 1
Odometer: 29++ Km
Tire Pressure: 32 psi all tires
Weather condition: Bad. Rainy and some road floods
When: May 6 and 7
Location : San Pedro Laguna - Sta Rosa, Laguna through service road. Then went to Brgy San Jose in Cavite(this is where i encountered the slope)

Should i be happy with the figure?

My pure City FC ranges from 8 km/L to 9 km/L depending on load and traffic conditions. I think 8.32 km/L FC is average among Mazda 3 owners. Some reported as low as 6 to 7 km/L , also some reported as high as 10 or even 12 km/L when A/C is turned off.

1. Speed: And napansin ko sa MZ3, the faster you are the better the FC. Siguro kasi ung lower gears nya mataas kumain ng gas. Napapansin ko ito sa trip meter e. Kapag asa 1-3rd gear ang taas ng indicator. i.e. reaching 50ltrs/100kms

3. Tire Pressure: Parang mababa ata. Ang recommeded is 35-42 if I remember correctly..

Anyway

I tried driving without A/C for one week.

Para malaman ko kung me difference with using e10.

Looks is the only reason why I bought the Mazda3. For the moonroof, 2.0 engine and other features only available to the 2.0 model, sulit talaga. Wanted to get the 2.0 Civic din for it's pearl white color pero sayang wala naman syang moonroof na kahit walang use

Pano ba mag-convert ng FC from the INFO button? Di kasi ako marunong. Post ko dito pag nag-long drive and city driving ako + traffic.

Sir Lucius, just divide 100 by the average(not the current) FC reading(L/100 km) from the Trip Computer(INFO Button)

Example:
INFO reading: 8 L/100 km
Divide 100 by 8 = 12.5 km/L
I suggest you should reset the L/100 km reading everytime you want to measure your FC. IMO, manual computation of FC is more accurate than reading from Trip computer.

Ah, that's the problem. Hindi ko kasi talaga minemeasure eh. I honestly don't care since my car is doing its purpose naman and that is to bring me anywhere I want with comfort.

Mazda3
