any qualms on the skyactiv being "new" technology? is it really that new? anybody apprehensive on the iStop feature for the same reason? i also read something which seemed to imply that iStop uses a specialized battery. anybody know how much the batt costs and its availability?

Yeah but I don't think our diesels are fit for their engines. Even Honda has diesel CR-V's in Europe that they can't bring here.

its Japanese car manufacturer's lost they didn't develop EURO-2 spec Diesel's for their CUV's for market other than Europe/Japan. tingnan mo Hyundai/Kia they offer Euro2 for us (and other countries siguro) and Euro4 specs for KDM, EUDM markets....

TEST DROVE one last Sunday at Fort BGC Mazda event. just right before It tested the 2.0li Forester w/c is quite underpowered IMO...
the 2.5li AWD CX-5 was a hoot to drive. very easy to weave in traffic. had good suspension compliance even with its low profile 19" wheels.
the Bose stereo should also be a worthwhile upgrade fm. stock. have also tested the I-stop, it does save u gas and together with the SkyActiv
chassis/engine.....the Luscious Red test drive unit still managed a respectable 10.5li/100km. and we know during test drives its usually wasting lots of fuel
in jack rabbit starts as well as idling with the A/C on.... its just a little bit expensive for me, hopefully my friend will get one..... and congrats to the lucky owner's out there....

Great! I test drove the 2.0 A/T last Saturday. Although it felt underpowered I can say na it's just right for the Philippines. You shouldn't accelerate fast anyway. Also been told by an acquaintance na he got 15km/L city. Hard to believe though the 17 inch rims give a better ride too!

some components might not be new per se like direct injection tech, 4-2-1 headers, high compression ratio; these are not unheard of before, but i guess they applied it in a new way. they're saying it's a holistic approach to building a car. if you've read up on their tech, it's the combination of all these that aspects that has not been done before.

as for i-stop, similar to other auto start/stop tech from other manufacturers, batteries are marked "for start & stop".

I agree with this, 2.0 is just enough for city driving. But it is still nice to have the oompph! when you need it. Got a plate mounted back up camera installed kanina from ACA, here is an image of the monitor i had installed above the rear view mirror.

Oh cool! Is that rear view mirror an aftermarket one din? How much for the rear cam & monitor and installation? And what tablet do you use for maps?
