Like any car, fc from a stop will be very poor & more noticeable in the morning due to the computer feeding more fuel to the engine to heat it up & more fuel to get the car moving & getting up to speed. Fuel efficiency will definitely suffer in short trips & in stop & go situations. Better consumption will be realized when the car is driven for a longer distance & time.

If you can buy a gas-fed vehicle worth 2M or more, paying for gas should not much be of a concern for you. You have the means to buy, maintain, and operate the vehicle so I doubt you will cheap out on fuel expense. Hehehehe

Very true, but even so, some larger petrol 6s & 8s can only do 3-4km/L city....half of what most would consider average.

Good theoretically. Ironically, it's not uncommon to hear those presumably of that type complain. Hehe....some to the extent of doing LPG conversions.[emoji16]

If I buy an Explorer or Expedition or F150 or CX9 or Pilot, I won’t complain about its appetite for fuel. I bought it ‘coz it satisfied my need for a certain of vehicle that I won’t get for something more affordable.

CX9s are not known for it’s good resale value, as I know of. My sister has a CX 9 she’s been trying to sell for a few years now w/no takers. It has a bad rap for it’s poor fc. I would presume people who’d buy 2nd hand ones know this & got it cheap will convert it to LPG units. Brand new unit owners will never do this to their CX9. Dba image is everything?

Not only midsize SUVs, even CUVs with gas engines with displacements over 2.0L. Most Pinoys are allergic to gas engines bigger than 1.6L.

The current CX9 has a 4cyl 2.5L pure Mazda Skyactiv turbo engine w/ more torque & better efficiency than the 3.7L V6 its predecessor had. Same badge, 2 totally different cars.

Sky-active engine kasi M3 which is touted to be fuel efficient & powerful. But currently, the trend to make gasoline engines more efficient is reducing the displacement & adding a turbocharger, reducing the number of cylinders or hybridization. I think engineers have reached that point where they can do no more hence, electrification is the next step in automotive evolution. This would be great for a CX9 but Mazda isn’t really getting on that bandwagon. Mauunahan pa ng Geely & the Koreans who, I read, are not really doing much into improving their current engine line up but the research is into developing their electric cars.

Whats a fair price kaya for a used current gen cx9? Cheapest i found in fb marketplace is around 1.7m and seems to me still no taker.

Say one buys it now for 1.7m, how much kaya selling price nia in 5years?

My body that needs a comfortable car wants a cx9. My mind tells me to choose between a prado or fj so i dont lose as much money overtime.

If your buying for resale, get a Toyota, sir.[emoji4] All 3 are good choices.

    my wild guess is,
if one can afford a 1.7M car,
unless the used car has unquestionable provenance,
one would probably buy the brand-new representative.

FJ has huge blind spot ... Prado 2nd hand is still priced high ... but buy a vehicle for your needs and satisfaction ... would not factor in resale value too much ... you can try one of those cheap flagship german sedans with air suspensions for ultimate comfort ... A8L, S350 / S500 ... or a Porsche Cayenne 1st gen with air suspension ...

He's leaning towards resale. FJs have been holding well. Personally, I prefer the bare basic 120 over the 150. Currently priced like compacts, a lot of car for the money. Those euro-premiums? I love to look at them....owning is a matter totally not for me. CX9 ownership will be way easier & migraine-free.[emoji16]

If resale is a top priority then the Diesel Prado can probably holds its value better than the other choices. The FJ does hold it value well too.
Another option is a Lexus RX350. not as good a resale as a diesel prado but you get both luxury, power and a Lexus/toyota resale boost.

Dont bother with a cx9 if resale value is anywhere in your list of priorities.

You will buy it for the driving experience and understated luxury.

Kung resale value with a budget of around 1.7M, then better go with a Fortuner or Innova.

Don’t bother with any Mazda or any gas-fed crossover.
