Bring in the diesel with pricing similar to explorer... Wishful thinking 😬

Saw it in the flesh. Very fancy car. Only Grand Touring spec will be available.
2.78M (additional if soul red or machine gray). Arriving in May or June.
230 hp only? Its 250 with higher octane gas everywhere else. Bummer. Id get the older explorer sport for that kind of money. And 18 inch wheels?
Much much More power (like 140 hp more), more space, toys, features, paddle shifters etc. for the explorer.

Mazda made this 1 a bit different. Functional torque where needed & efficiency over engine size/listed HP. Here's what C&D realized:
Up close, the CX9 seems to make good numbers & sense.....
And, should more be desired, there's always OVT. Their custom tunes for Skyactivs are amazing. For details, here's OVTph #: +63 927 155 8085
2.7M for a petrol 7-seater SUV with an engine more like for a 5-seater CUV. I guess Mazda is taking a gamble on this one. Honda priced the new Pilot at 3.4M and it's way overpriced compared to the more powerful Explorer 3.5L V6 Ecoboost.
For US folks, the CX9 offers a good balance for its package. A fuel efficient option among its V6 competitors yet not lacking in driving fun. I do feel that Mazda has been quite conservative with its engine choice unlike the big brute of the Explorer.
However, people who buy these vehicles locally are not that worried anymore about fuel expense. They are not like small cars, not even like CUVs in terms of fuel efficiency.
Subaru will be joining the competition among the petrol 7-seater midsize SUVs when it brings to the market the Ascent which would be powered by the FA20 of the Forester XT and WRX. I think they are counting on the success of Mazda using a 4-banger turbo in the CX9. The FA20 does offer a good amount of grunt, 240 to 280 hp depending on the tune.
I see ford explorer v6 twin turbos everywhere. Must be doing something good. Lets see if this cx9 sells well vs the explorer.
I liked the old v6 3.7 liter version. Had one of those once upon a time. Gaz guzzler and torque steer galore but was fun to cane.
