7kml sounds too optimistic. the reading from the insutrument cluster could be very off.

if daily driven in metro manila it will probably be under 7kml. full tank method of course.

Very optimistic indeed. My daily-driven Forester XT (with about the same power output but in a lighter chassis) in Metro Manila traffic is doing only around 6-7 km/L.

Even if it's slightly optimistic (talked to Manskee, he took those readings in Manila), it's a fair sight better than the V6 CX9.

That old car did 3-4 km/l in traffic and 7 km/l on long trips.

Granted, most CX-9 owners (and myself, when I tested it) do 100-120 on the highway... but I never saw better than 10-12 km/l from that car... and that's with hypermiling. Manskee drives a lot faster than I do, so for him to get 12 km/l on the highway is a very good sign.

I've no doubt it will be similar to the Fozzie XT in traffic... but then, it could be possible that the CX9 does eke out a slight advantage with iStop and Mazda's proprietary high-compression SkyActiv engine architecture.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

All the torque of this car comes at 2000 rpm which is very similar to a diesel. So its possible. The Fozzie XT gets it peak torque at around 3700 rpm.

The FA20 on the Forester XT reaches max torque of 350Nm from 2400 to 3600 rpm.

    Thanks for this, Stock!
Almost all gave 5 stars, amazing! Tho I still want to hear feedback from the PH market. It's scary how I rarely see this car on the road and how no one talks about it in tsikot [emoji23]

Ive seen a couple..handsome looking car. But Pinoys are gobbling up the Ford explorer ------ recall problems and all. The Explorer is cheaper, much faster, more kitted out, more macho and nowadays extremely popular here.

I rarely see the new CX9 on the road. It is quite good-looking in the flesh. Unfortunately, the Explorer is the king of midsize petrol SUVs in terms of sales locally.

For reference, my 2012 CX9 3.7L V6 from start to present has managed 4-5km/liter in city, and 8-9 in highway.

    Personally, the CX9 doesn't look like it's worth 2.8M.

One looks like a luxury crossover.

The other looks like an SUV.

    Psychology sells.

Even if you'd rip the front bumper completely off if you tried going off road in an Explorer... Ford does not quote approach, departure or breakover angles for the Explorer... hell, they don't even quote a safe flood fording depth!... it still looks like something tough.

The CX9 makes no pretensions about what it can or can't do. Hence, buyers looking for the false security provided by a "rugged" SUV pass it by.

I got the CX-9 last month. It's super quiet inside and very responsive. 1st and 2nd row seats are very spacious, 3rd row is very cramped and very hard to access. I get around 8-9km/li 70/30 highway/city.

However, the TOTL CX-5 has more safety features, like the adaptive cruise control, etc.

One of the deal breakers for me when I checked out the cx-9 in the flesh. The cramped 3rd row.. and how the 2nd row snaps back into an absurd position every single time you access the 3rd row.

I won't be using the 3rd row anyway, so it was not a concern when I was checking it out.

How is the driving dynamics of the Mazda CX-9 compared to the Mazda CX-5?
