We're gonna be looking at a 2016 sedan this weekend, any watch out for this model year?

Looks like it's the R (with LED DRLs and 16s), but the post says it's a V+.

Someone has the specs of the pre-GVC models?

Have you tested it? The updated 2 w/ GVC has comfier dampers.
Off the top of my head, all Ph A/T M2DJs are 1.5 Skyactivs w/ Sport mode. Disc brakes, all corners. The entry level came w/o MazdaConnect system/headunit & basic AC controls, no DSC. Those are pretty much the vital hardware differences.

Yep, test drove it. All checks out actually.

It has the stability control, sport mode and with the MazdaConnect. It's the 2016 model without GVC, old steering wheel too.

It feels faster than my 1.8 CVT Civic

Yeah, looks like it's bone stock.

There's just a, I think a half second delay when you depress the accelerator before it picks up (during hard acceleration) I think it's normal though.

I'm just amazed by the features of the 2, like yung sa infotainment, you can customize the vehicle settings, far more than the Civic.

Stock maps deliberately have that safety delay dialed in. OVT can definitely smoothen that out + more.[emoji4]
The DJ is probably the least discovered in that segment. Pricing & practicality usually dictate hunts. Unless 1 is keen & discerning, its 'package' seldom reveals itself during acquaintance-test-drives.
A bud w/ an MX5 ND took a second close look at the 2, without any plans, & saw the gem you just did.....Now, a few months into ownership, PERFECT, says he![emoji106]
    Have you decided, sir?

Yeah, for 50% off the SRP (2016) it's a steal.

Just looked around and it virtually has the same 1-100kph vs Civic 1.8 CVT (10.3s). Lol

Wow. That's already below market value. Whats the odo.
    Good catch regardless.

    No plans for OVT yet.

Is the loud engine noise normal upon cold startup? It becomes quiet once warm though.

Also, I've installed some AIO tweaks to make it even more better, especially Android Auto! No Apple CarPlay though.

    Yup. All Skyactivs do that.

You should hear a cold-starting direct-injection Subie. It doesn't sound pretty lol.

Anyone here who drives their Mazda2 on a daily basis during rush hour at Metro Manila? I'm curious to know the fuel economy, how it compares with the Mazda3 BM/BN model that comes with the 1.5 li engine.

Mix of Quirino Hiway and Commonwealth Ave. I get between 8-9km/L.

My daily route of 3 to 4 hours is from Commonwealth ave to C5 BGC area, and my 2.0 Mazda3 averages between 7 to 8 km/L. Compared to your Mazda2's best fuel economy for heavy traffic, that's roughly around 1.5 liter of savings for every 100 km (12.5L/100km for M3, 11L/100km for M2).

I was hoping at least the 1.5L Skyactiv engine can give at least 9 or 10km/L.

The BM/BN 1.5 has higher compression than the DJ. The former edges in fuel efficiency.
