This gives the much needed illusion of width.[emoji4]

notice ko rin the emblems of "mazda2" and "skyactive" are also redesigned. Yung skyactiv logo medyo lumiit and the mazda2 emblem went from italic to regular font.

Good price point, good feature set. But it lost the in your face charm of the Mazda 2 R, which makes sense because essentially this is an upgraded 1.5V rather than a downgraded 1.5R. The cosmetic upgrades of the R are easy aftermarket addons anyway.

This goes head to head with the City/Jazz VX and undercuts the TOTL Yaris/Vios. Great subcompact choice for anyone not looking for space.

This may not be as popular as the Vios or the City & Jazz...probably for lack of space....& discovery. Once owned, it hooks....A bud w/ a good select fleet has favored his top-spec DJ hatch, more than any, as his daily driver. Fun, easy, reliable. Now, he's toying w/ the idea of updating to a '20.

Yeah given na yun that it won't sell as much as a City or Vios - Mazda has always been a niche brand for customers looking for driver-oriented cars. It's not for everyone, but for their target market, it's an outstanding car.

The only time Mazda became second in its segment was when the gen 3 Mazda 3 was launched and it outsold the aging FB Civic and Elantra at the time.

The facelifted mazda 2 in my opinion is the best looking (interior and exterior) in the subcompact segment now. Performance and practicality still goes to the Honda Jazz though. 😜 However at that price the mazda 2 could have been at least equipped with leather seats or even have more than 2 airbags.

Practicality, versatility... Jazz. Performance? Factor in the DJ's handling & the Skyactiv's tunability...it can easily be the poor man's MX5.[emoji4]
