Yet another teaser of the upcoming Mazda 6
c/o autoblog.comThe painfully slow striptease of the next Mazda6 continues unabated. Fortunately for us, the Japanese automaker has seen fit to reveal the car's full profile, albeit in a video that never shows the car in its entirety.
We've gone ahead and created a composite image based on screen captures – it's far from perfect, but hopefully it gives us an idea of how Mazda's swoopy new family sedan is shaping up. Click on the image above to see it in high resolution.
As before, we see clear evidence that Mazda is using the Kodo "Soul of Motion" design language of its Takeri Concept as the starting point for the 6's shape, and that's a good thing. We're expecting four-cylinder power relying heavily on Mazda's Skyactiv fuel-saving technology.
Fell free to have a gander at teasers one, two and three, then satiate your voyeuristic notions by scrolling down below for the latest video.
Sana yung mga strategists ng MPH will not do a Mazda 3 out of this Mazda 6 ... retain the current engine inside the new body
For the 1.6 variants, this holds true, since it was a disappointing engine to begin with. But the 2-liter 145 HP engine on the R variant is actually a good engine, and this time around they paired it with a good transmission. Really great to drive.
It's really the pricing that kills it.
Mazda's getting a little late with the Specs/Quality + Pricing > Brand wars.
Honda has been feeling this pinch recently with the underwhelming CRV and Civic but Mazda PH doesn't seem like it's learning.
Hyundai (and, as of late, Kia) has been on the (positive) receiving end of this, where it used to be the laughingstock among car importers but have gone on a tear since then.
Toyota seems to be semi immune to this since since their products, while not cutting edge, aren't the worst in terms of specs and don't carry the usual premium other greedier manufacturers feel obliged to tack on. (They have the specs/quality/pricing AND brand, though not exactly perfect)

in case MPH will retain the current engine and tranny for the new Kodo body, would sales of Mazda 6 suffer?![]()
With a good price, good specs, and better FE from improvements elsewhere (body weight, aerodynamics, more efficient transmission), people will gloss over an older engine.
With a significantly higher price but inferior specs especially compared to the competition, good luck.
The ACV40 Camry (07-12) carried over it's engine from the previous body, but it sold really well. It's because the overall package was received well by the people buying them.
just by observing the Japanese trends lately -- Toyota (Altis, Camry ...), Honda (Civic), Mazda (3) -- most likely Mazda 6 will follow the same trend. sana MPH will realize the comment of basti above and for what the Koreans have done![]()
Thing of beauty but something is lost in the transistion from Takeri.
The sharper head and tail lights for one...
the production car has softer contours. Soft around the edges. I prefer the sharper Takeri. Less striking imo
