I can't say anything bad about the dash. It's awesome and pretty much reminds me of on how the Bavarians design their interiors. And this is heap loads of praise from one of the first owners of a Sonata here in the country (I appreciate good design).

    I'll raise two flags though:

    1. It's small. Yes it is once you compare it to its peers. The roofline is awesomely low and with a height of 5'8, your hair's touching the headliner already.
    2. Ground clearance. Hell, hindi ito papasa sa speed humps ng village ko

In the end, it's a mixed bag once I get over the initial "wow" factor. Remember that 1.7m is still a huge amount of money and for driving purists who doesn't need another row, attention should be paid to the T86 and Subaru BRZ instead. If you're fresh from college, single, and trying to have your wealthy parents buy you something better than an Altis but less than that of a sports car, this might raise some eyebrows :naughty2:

I found INGRESS/AGREES to the new Mazda 6 is just fine. and i'm almost 5'10" and my daily drive is an SUV... its good Mazda Phil retained I-stop & I-eloop for Philippine application..... dis-appointed no Diesel though....

pero back to pricing, so yung Php1.7M pala includes 20% taxes/duties... w/o it its just priced around Php1.4M and that compares favorably well with the Thai built competitors - Camry / Accord....pero I thought under JPEPA mawawala 'na Japan CBU, guess not... goodluck with that Mazda Phil... better make it here or in Thailand for the price to be competitive...

JPEPA only applies to cars with 3.5L engine displacement and above.

I believe JPEPA applies to cars with engine size over 3L (e.g. Pajero Diesel 3.2L included)...

By the way, any Mazda 6 owners care to share some photos of theirs cars? I haven't seen one on the road yet and it looks interesting...

The Mazda 6 spanked the newest Accord and is hailed the new king of all mid-sizers sold in US by Car and Driver Magazine.

Based on the reviews, the new Mazda 6 was designed to beat the best reasonably-priced midsizers (Accord, Fusion, Altima, Passat) in the market. I guess Mazda did a good job it. An AWD model (with a more powerful engine) might shake the Subaru LGT from its perk of the reasonably-priced high-performing AWD midsize sedan.

The new 6 sure looks good! Quite a departure from the more conservative 6s of the past.

The pre-facelift 1st gen Mazda6 (2003-2005) looks a bit dull. The facelifted 1st gen (2006-2008) was quite successful with its low stance, aggressive looks, and great handling. The 2nd gen was more refined and bigger yet still had its sportiness. The new generation is aimed to be a looker, sporty, comfortable, and fuel efficient (SkyActiv-G). A local diesel version will surely be something competitors need to deal with.

I suspect na wala sila Euro2 exhaust emission spec na SkyActiv-D...so kung ganun kung introduce man nila ditto yan eh kailangan antayin ang 100% implementation of EURO4 Diesel which is 2016 (correct me if i'm wrong)

2016 for sure pag marami ng euro 4. Skyactive-d is clean diesel engine. Euro 2 fuel is dirty.

Matagal ko nang iniisip how the gov't will implement this law since we have a lot of jeepneys. I think a) jeepney owners and drivers do not know about this yet, and 2) even if they know about it, they will do their best to delay its implementation kahit may headstart na since it'll be a very big investment for them to change their engines/their whole jeepneys. An example that comes to mind is the implementation of the ICC certification for motorcycle helmets which had been announced a few months before implementation but was still pushed back due to public outcry.

Euro4 na diesel ng UniOil tapos Euro3 naman yung sa SeaOil. Sa dami ng jeepneys na nagpapakarga sa kanila, I guess wala effect sa old diesel engines nila.

Yeah but don't the engines themselves need to be changed by 2015/16?

I was at Bonifacio High Street last night and had the chance to sit inside the new Mazda6. Too bad I missed the chance to take it for a test drive since MazdaPH only allowed test drives before 6pm. The interior is quite comfortable. The black leather seats looks better than the tan-colored one. The steering wheel looks a bit small but it had a nice feel to it. The controls are all within easy reach. I think it will be a great daily car. My wife though was more interested in the CX5.
