2014 Mazda 6

Hi,
I have a 2014 Mazda 6. Would like to ask if anyone out there has tried using an Amaron battery instead of the Motolite EFB. I just replaced my battery (my 3rd!) yesterday at Mazda with a Motolite EFB and I guess will do the same in 16-18 months. At PHP 14.8K a pop, am looking for an alternative. When I called Amaron, they said that they've installed the Amaron Pro on many CX5's with the i-Stop feature. Appreciate any info or feedback or experience with Amaron. The Amaron Pro is not a deep cycle battery but a regular flooded battery. If the Amaron Pro can last 18 months or just as long as the Motolite EFB then it saves me money as it only costs PHP 5.6K. Thanks.

Cylinder deactivation should for the NA market. I doubt if Mazda will offer this option here.[emoji4]

Been using amaron on 2 of my mazdas and its been around 1 yr 6 months na ok parin but most modern batteries have a shelf life of less than 2 years so Im expecting another battery change.

Thanks! So you have had no problems with your Mazda 6? No issues when i-Stop engages and restarts the engine? This is good testimony about the Amaron. Thanks.

Also need to replace my battery. According to Mazda Alabang, after replacing with their Motolite istop batt, they also need to reconfigure the settings. Is this true?

I asked the same question to Mazda Pampanga, they also said the same. I think I remember them saying that nothing bad will happen if it's not configured right away except for the i-Stop, it won't function properly.

I thought so also. I got a Motolite good for 21 months and didnt do any resetting, but now (after 15 months) i need to replace it.

What battery did you use?

Mazda iStop or Honda Start/Stop Battery woes?

And iStop relearning? Check this DIY:

1. Warm the engine up. Turn everything electrical off that you can - radio, A/C, lights, chargers, etc. Bring it close to electrical load.

2. Switch the ignition off.

3. Switch ignition to on but dont start engine. Long-press the i-stop OFF switch for 3 s within 5 s after switching the ignition ON.

4. Start the engine.

5. Press the i-stop OFF switch. Verify that the i-stop indicator light (green) flashes and stays flashing. If it does not flash, go back to Step 3.

6. Allow the engine to idle for 10 minutes, or until the i-stop indicator light (green) turns off. Mine didnt stop flashing so after 10 minutes or so i just went to step 7.

7. Switch the engine off. Wait a minute or two.

8. Start the engine. Go for a drive, and check that the i-stop system operates normally. Those with i-stop will know that you may need to drive a mile or two until it activates. Remember that i-stop will not operate when (a) for diesels...when engines are in DPF regen mode, and (b) in those other conditions stated in the manual. Also, if a new battery was fitted, it may take some time for the new battery to fully charge up before i-stop will start working. Go for a decent drive so it gets fully charged.

9. If i-stop operates as normal, reset it was a success.

Ideally in the south area.

Is Value Plus Auto Center in Las Pinas advisable? Change oil and filter is P4,800.

Oil change at the dealership should cost about the same. You can dictate what you want done.

Kindly check with Mazda, it should be more or less than the cost that you posted. I posted the approximate PMS cost in the Yojin's thread, although that is for a diesel. The point is, it shouldn't cost that much when compared doing it outside of casa.

Here are some commonly consumed parts with casa prices(in pesos) compared to Mazda OEM parts (in US$) sourced from oemautopartz.com. I converted the casa prices to US$ at PHP 52/$. Since my 6 turned 3 last Feb 2018, I am inclined to source outside the casa. Prices below do not include taxes and delivery. I had a chance to go the US, ordered some parts and had it delivered to my sister's house. Taxes in California are 8.5% plus delivery of approximately $19-20 for the lot. I eventually ordered from rockauto.com and bought mostly air filters, a/c filters, oil filters, a pair of bosch wipers, and a pair of front brake pads, none of which are Mazda OEM, so it's even cheaper. The replacement brake pads I bought, Power Stop Evolution cost only $38. All these parts can be installed DIY or at a gas station. If you want Mazda OEM, go to oempartz.com, for replacement parts, rockauto.com seems ok.

I even bought a pair of disc rotors for my 2007 mitsubishi grandis at $17/pc. I just hope it fits. If it doesn't then I wasted $34 on this experiment along with a sore arm from lugging the things. Locally, the OEM mitsubishi supplier priced the rotors at PHP 20K/pair or almost $400.
